| Summary: If Emmure and Oceano had extremely gay sex. This bastard child would be the outcome. |
3 of 3 thought this review was well written
To put this whole album in short, it's horrible. It takes ever generic niche of any of the various hardcore sub-genres, and repeatedly beats them into an incoherent mass of sound. It's basically an amalgamation of Emmure, Oceano, and a few other of the most favored, but worst deathcore and metalcore bands. These guys were once a decent band, but I guess they got a new line up, and a new song.
First, the vocals. They are annoying, generic and just there to make noise.. They resemble Oceano's, but higher. I can give props to Oceano for having better vocals. I will grant the one or two shining moments like in the album closer, "Straight In Your Throat". The gang vocals are entertaining, and would be much more appreciated if they were more common throughout the whole album, though not to become a staple. The vocalist general stays in a mid scream or growl, somewhat decipherable. The biggest surprise and downfall is the addition of a mysterious vocalist named T. Mills. He adds clean singing and it's chopped beyond belief by an auto-tune. Imaging taking any song from Attack Attack!'s Someday Came Suddenly, then play that through the T-Pain app on an iPhone. The worst example would probably be in the first full song, The Take Over.
The two guitarist must listen to every available Emmure CD, when ever possible, because this sounds like it could be their next album. If these guys consider themselves 'good deathcore' they should think again. Everything is chug-a-lug, and boring. Breakdowns every 45 seconds roughly, it gets stale quickly. Not to rag on these guys, but they are very unoriginal. The highlight breakdown would be in "Take The Crown". Again, it features T. Mills, and he interrupts the song by talking like he's on a rap album, and then before the breakdown he says, "We're gonna smoke this blunt, and watch you kill yourselves!". I think it's a great breakdown, and a great one-liner for a "party-hardcore" album. (Much like Atilla.) But other than that, the song is a no go.
Bass is nowhere to be found.
The drummer is average at best. He tries his hand at blast beats in the crowd favorite "Straight In Your Throat", but falls short and comes across weak. Double bass and breakdowns is what you will hear while he smashes away. He could be good with a different band, something heavier, and in the lines of Despised Icon (monster drummer). But he's sold himself short.
All in all, if you want background noise, just play this. Or if you just want to hear a few generic breakdowns. Emmure should be ashamed. While they themselves are not the best, or anywhere near. They are much better than these guys.

| | | The band when they were actually deathcore was pretty decent, shitty vocals but had some pretty nice chug-a-lug riffs. This however is an atrocity, a complete and utter abomination. Ughhhh. What the fuck happened?

I heard a song by them the other day, and thought it was decent. However....I took a listen to "Let's Get Fucked Up" a couple days later.....and well I passed out after the 00:54 mark, and woke up in a dark alley with a group of strange men raping my very being into shreds. If only I knew how to score a 0.5
