Review Summary: Marea disappointed with a second album that not only fails to evolve but even regresses in certain aspects!

After debuting in 1999 with "La Patera," Marea's second album didn't take long to arrive!

Recorded once again at the Sonido XXI studio in Navarra, the Spanish region where Marea hails from, this second album was also distributed by the GOR record label and helped Marea solidify their position on a national level.

However, this "Revolcon" doesn't differ too much stylistically from the debut "La Patera," offering us fast, straightforward hard rock with influences from Extremoduro and Barricada (El Drogas, the singer of Barricada, actually participates in the song El Perro Verde) and featuring lyrics as poetic as they are vulgar, courtesy of the leader Kutxi Romero, who unfortunately sings quite poorly on this album with an unpleasantly raspy voice.

Furthermore, the album doesn't offer many surprises during its 40-minute duration. The songs are very similar both in terms of sound and theme, with only a few standing out, making the album quickly succumb to boredom upon repeated listens.

Best Tracks: Incandescente (the chorus is catchy) and Besos de Perro (the most famous and undoubtedly the best song on the album)

Conclusion: "Revolcon" is harder, dirtier, and more streetwise than "La Patera," but not necessarily better. It has fewer standout tracks compared to the band's debut, and its repetitiveness doesn't help in the long run.

I believe the main reason for this is Kutxi Romero himself, who, in my opinion, sings quite poorly, and his lyrics often fall into vulgarity in an attempt to be original.

Honestly, considering their first two albums, I don't understand why this group is so famous in Spain... Unless things significantly improve in later works! We'll have to see.
