Review Summary: THE FUTURE IS GRIM GUYS

Entheos is a progressive/technical death metal band hailing from The Great White North! The band is made up of members of deathcore legends Animosity and also the well known instrumental metal champions Scale the Summit and Animals As Leaders. According to this album the future is dark and also armed with a plethora of the weedle, weedles, along with a handful of weedeley woos!!!

Dark Future is a nice little maze of an album, with each corner turned there's some neat fret gymnastics waiting to greet you to your newfound setting. "Sea of Symmetry" is a highlight here. The track almost gives off a hesitant vibe I can't quite put my finger into. The many ideas continue to stack up and they just fall together in glorious fashion.

This thing is chalk full of quirky, pulsating rhythmic moments and plenty of excellent leads that range from smooth and melodic to fairly chaotic. There's also a decent amount of electronic elements at play here that work well to spice things up for the most part when they appear. The electronic moments never get too heavy handed for their own good, although it is a fine line at least for me with releases in this vein.

Entheos greatest attribute for me is their execution of their solos. The solo on "Pulse of a New Era" gives off a vibe like the man's fingers were confused about where they were at the time. "Suspended Animation" features a rather slow, soulful performance that proved to be very memorable, although brief. The track also closes off with some delectable bass pops that had my ears licking their lips with delight.

Overall Dark Future is a solid display of proggy technicality. Given the members history with Animosity I went into this expecting quality but other than that my ears were blind to what would befall me in thine future. One could say I went into the situation completely in the dark. The outcome was pleasing however, and this is a journey that I would recommend fans of the genre to take on themselves. It will be interesting to hear where Entheos take things in the future. JAM IT!!!

This review was on the fly. Discovered this while just jamming things at random earlier and went to rate it and saw a sound off exclaiming they were surprised it had no review. I decided to fill that void. This isn't the kind of thing I would typically do a write up for but this album hit the spot today so here you have it!

You're definitely on point with the less chaotic observation Willie. Cheers for the pos votes y'all!

Also hope you dig it bloc. It's definitely a different lane than most of the tech stuff I typically jam but I dig it.

I've got a few more technical dm reviews I've got planned a little later on so be on the lookout for those

I think it's just the vocalist and Navene now but they should have some new material out eventually, OP

Nice! Looking forward to hearing what they come with.

Honestly had I not looked up the line up I would have never known the vocalist on this was a female. Was kinda shocked when I found out
