Review Summary: An absolute must for the eclectic ponce.
Unadulterated immersion. Music for 18 Musicians is a composition that truly has no equal. The intersecting loops of cellos, the crescendo of falsettos, and the whimsical use of xylophones create a tangible yet utterly surreal soundscape. Music for 18 Musicians is dynamic and in a state of constant flux. The most impressive and delightful aspect of this record is how the listener can digest it in a variety of ways. Music for 18 Musicians is hypnotic and well-suited for lazy listening. However, this record will reward the listener with a unique listening experience if they were to undertake a more clinical approach. Music for 18 Musicians is largely considered Steve Reich's magnum opus, and rightfully so. This composition is genius in more ways than one, and if you have an itch for otherworldly sounds, then look no further.
