Review Summary: In Somewhere Lost in the Universe Creed Came
With Lyrics geared to Christianity and with the goal of Casting Out Demons, but Scott has always claimed that his Songs are not Christian, yes he is an Idiot for denying it just to Surrender his image of Headposer
My Own Prison is their Most Natural Album and they did it with no Intent to Profit... it's different from their Later Releases, but it can sound Boring at one time or another
Opens with the track "Torn" which is one of the Singles, it is a Masterpiece in Creed's Discography, but it sounds too raw and Overly Long...it just catches My eye Scott's vocals sounding So Close to AIC's Layne Staley .
The Next Track "Ode" is Heavy, (That's by this Band's standards) It's also a little Long, but I think it's important to be that Long to Grab the Listener in Creed's Slow Obscure Atmosphere, it opens with an Ugly But That Riff gives me a certain Nostalgia for such an Epoch in which it was Released.
And we have the Single "My Own Prison", this Track is Very Attractive, you can feel the Feeling of Anguish it tries to convey to the Listener, it all sounds so Atmospheric being so Simple.
"Pity For a Dirne" is kind of a Ballad, being a Twin to "My Own Prison", well, a few points save this song as a Guitar Solo that pops up unexpectedly.
"In America" ββis a more political track and very reminiscent of The Doors Sound Goodvibes πβπ½.
"Illusion" restarts the Album Weight and performs a Guitar Solo which, however forgettable, is already a Point for Scott and his Gang.
"Unforgiven" the heaviest on the album, Scott Casts out his demons and I've always identified with the Verse:
"Think I, think I'm unforgiven to this world"
When I was a 13 Year Old Sad Boy.
"Sister" is a Cool Track but it doesn't have the Dark Emotion of the Album, it doesn't fit here, it's just a Boring Fill.
"What's This Life For" is a Track much as we can say... Comedy, yeah, I don't take it seriously and it's another one of Creed's Mediocre Ballads that they've done further on.
"One" is a good ballad and I love the Beat, this was the 2000 Grunge Post, it sounds so nostalgic π*
And that's just it...more than Half of the Album will sound Forgettable, and if you hate Creed I would recommend trying at least this Album, I know it might sound Dated and like a Parody of Pearl Jam, but it's still not the worst thing of the world.
