The biggest band of the 80’s, insists to be the hugest of the 90’s as well. And truth be told, it’s hard to find something bigger than U2. The sound is enormous, messages are suppurating, concept is gigantic, goal is huge, and above all, the originality is the greatest of the carrying powers behind exertion U2. With Pop, U2 sweeps all expectations about “their possible existence with an album, that repeats the holding Achtung Baby”, off the table. Pop is a merciless upcoming experience with its 90’s musical movements, with all of them filtered through U2’s compact, but also ‘meshed’ net. On Pop, the 90’s are sat in sound, with such a big belief, that that makes it one second half of the decade’s musical masterpieces, without aspirating to the title ‘classic’, at all. U2 has – of course – never played all-time classics. They’ve always joined over one time, both musical and spiritual, as Bono’s powerful religious ribbon, has played the lead role, in U2’s landscaped savior-conception. With a very judicious use of technos hectic agents inthrough the album’s most prominent and hanging songs, U2 captures the zeitgeist on the gangway of the decade. A time where everything happens, and nothing is good enough. On the closest to panic, Bono cries the religious and spiritual values, in vain. Because of a hope of finding a stuck point, in a zapping everyday life – where philosophical concepts like love and existence after all, is completely diluted. Bono is, like always, in his ideological saving-graces, and U2 has NOT given up the hope of saving this at times, despicable world. As it only is the vouchsafed, U2 releases the full seat, from this very intrusive saviorattitude, which mainly should ascribe the band’s impressive produced credibility. Despite its bright inspirations from techno in many shades, U2 is a rock band of the old’-‘school, that can produce, write and create a fabulously great melody. On Pop, even the most traditional rocksongs has given a boost, which makes them almost just as musically present, as it’s the case of the new wrap. The Edges guitar is (after all – hehe), all the way out, starring at the turning point, and in no shape of form, can be trapped in a traditional guitaruniverse. U2’s solid ground can be, though. Just Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen is guarantees, that U2 is one of the world’s most essential acts. Pop is therefore musical teamwork, and if pop is the late 90’s trend, then Pop definitely is outstanding pop.

lukass062 (3.5) Certainly not the best that U2 have come out with, but there is no denying this is a highly underrat...
MasterSan (4) Bursts out of the gate with some great tracks, loses steam, gets increasingly erratic, and stumbles ...

| | | This album has nothing to do with their classic stuff, such as, "Boy", "October", "War", "The Unforgettable Fire", "The Joshua Tree", "Rattle And Hum" and "Achtung Baby". So, I'm not a great fan of this album and their last releases. I think this is an album that continues the fall of a great band, which began with their previous one, "Zooropa".

their fall is ATYCLB where they stopped pushing themselves in favor for notching cheap radio hits but i dont think their albums actually got bad until innocence
clear drop between 80s and 90s u2 vs 2000s onward u2 tho

| | | I've never really familiarized myself with this album for some reason. I think I just felt that there was such a fall off after "Achtung Baby" that I stopped listening for awhile, although I have heard more of their later stuff.
| | | now thats some terrible album art
| | | @nolerthebowler
even thougn the cover art's mediocre, the effect still paints, describes and frames the album's electronic soundscapes. But yea, could've been done better on that one.
