Review Summary: "Put that in your fucking mixtape"
Quote:
So begins the song in a manner not dissimilar to Nirvana's song "tourette's" from the legendary
In Utero album as Kurt begins that song with "Moderate rock". For the next 3 and a half minutes, the listener is entreated to the spastic post-hardcore of Whom, fronted by Steve off Probation Sam Harris and some of his other cronies. When the cacaophony reaches its peak, Steve shouts:
Quote:
AND ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE SEVENTH HOUR OF THE SEVENTH MINUTE. FUCK. FUCK. *several chugs enter the fold* I THROW MYSELF INTO THE SUN. PARACHUTE INTO MOUNT VESUVIUS.

The m/ worthy mayhem of Whom's first demo is amateur at best in terms of musicianship but the passion and anger is undeniable. When the listener hears those ungodly screams, one cannot help but imagine Steve's neck veins just bulging out and face turning red with angst as he passionately delivers these vocals.
What makes the demo more engaging is how 99.9% of the audio is in the left stereo channel while only very little exists in the right channel and may only be heard when the volume is all the way up. This production technique is extremely clever in that it forces the listener to blast the damn song and hear it in all its glory as Steve screams "FUCK."
Ultimately, this demo serves as a sort of warning to other up and coming post-hardcore bands out there: Whom isn't a band to fuck with. This demo transcends the cliche "started from the bottom" anecdote because Whom is already at the goddam top.
