Review Summary: A solid track that shows Beartooth is honing their instrumental prowess.
Beartooth injected so much life and angst into the hardcore scene with
Disgusting, their 2014 full-length debut album. They've released a new track, "Aggressive", which will be featured on their upcoming album of the same name. With this new track, not much is differing from anything that appeared on
Disgusting, but still manages to show that the hardcore punk Ohio quartet is honing their instrumental prowess.
While the chorus feels a bit overly flushed out, frontman Caleb Shomo brings a lot of grit to his screamed verses, which sound much more cohesive in comparison. The drumming is solid, the riffs are reminiscent of 'The Lines' by my estimation, though the production feels much more tightly wound. I'll be looking forward to the full album for sure, and this titular track is a solid introduction to the future of Beartooth.
