DOPESMOKER 11/10
Dopesmoker is very slow, bass-driven, and extremely melodic song. It starts off with a few slow chords strummed repeatedly into your brain to get you ready for the voyage you are about to go on. Every now and then getting changed and intensified. After about 1:30 the bass comes in and drags you deeper into the song. At 2:30 Chris puts in a little drum rhythm to fully engulf your mind and body into the song. The music puts you into a trance keeping you head and feet bouncing to the rhythm.

8:00 Al comes in with singing very similar Tibetan chanting. It sucks you out of your body and into a higher state of mind, giving you a feeling of spiritual at-oneness:

Dr--rop-- out of life, with bo--ng in ha---nd...
Fol-low the smoke, toward the riff-filled land...
Dr--rop-- out of life, with bo--ng in ha---nd...
Fol-low the smoke, toward the riff-filled land...

Then the sounds of the instruments in full effect crash down on you and bury you under an ocean of music, putting you back into a relaxed trance.

14:20 Matt comes in with a shreaking solo that raises you spirit and heart rate to the sky. The solo continues for about two minutes. Then Al sucks you back in with more lyrics to drag you into the riff-filled land:

Pro-ceeds the Weedian...Nazareth

Followed by a long lull entombing your body but freeing your mind.

Pro-ceeds the Weedian...Nazareth

The drums stop and the guitar and bass slow down like the song is slowly evovling into something new. A few minutes later the rhythm of the drums getts your head slowly banging and the tempo is increased, giving you a feeling that you have grown into something better.

23:40 More lyrics to lift your mind back up to the sky:

Cre---eds-men roll out, a-cross the dy--ing dawn...
Sa---cred Is-rael, Ho-ly Moun--tain Zion...
Sun, be--ams down on to the Sand-sean reigns...
Car-a-van migrates through deep sandscape...
Lungs--men unearth the creed of Hash-eesh-ian...
Processions of the Weed-Priests to cross the sands...
Desert Legion, Smoke-Covenant is com-plete...
Herb, bails retied to backs of beasts...
Arise, Arise, Arise... The Son of God of Is-rael...
Jordan riv-er flows on ever-more...
Ba--the, in glow of sun-light's bea-ting rays...
Th---ey, feel, so lost, and burned, through our days...

The drums and the vocals cease for a moment and then pick back up for:

Ston-er cara-van e-merge from sandsea...
Earthling inserts, to chalice, the green cut--chie...
Groundation soul find trust, u-p-on smo--king hose...
Assembled cre--eds-men, rises prayer--filled smoke...
Raise, up, se-er's Ho--ly Proph--ecy...
Gla-nce do-wn up-on the son now feeds... (might be wrong, hard to distinguish)
Se--ed of E-den fa-ll on (inaudible)...
On--ward car-a-van, pre-pare new road...

Everything dies down and the guitar drones the same riff until the drums pick back up everything progresses. Then a droning bass line comes in to overpower you and take you away. This carries on for a while then Al comes back at you with more gospel:

We---ed-Priest cre---eds-men tend the ri-ght...
Jud-gement so-on co-me to man-kind...
Gre-en Herbsmen serve right-ful king...
Hem-p seed car-a-van car-ries...

38:50 Right after Al finishes that line, Matt picks up with a slow solo to lift your mind and detach you from your body. It takes you to the desert and leaves you sending prayers to God.

41:30 Everything downs and all you hear is the slow plucking of guitar strings, giving you the feeling of being buried under an ocean. Ever slowly and gradually increasing in volume and speed Chris brings you to the surface with his drumming. Al follows in suit with his bass, bringing you you to the surface. But then it gradually fades out as if you didn't make it.

43:20 All of a sudden all the instruments hit you in full blast and speed, bringing you a feeling of recesitation and new life. After awhile Al comes back with the journey:

The molten fire, flowed up toward Zi-on...
Flight of, the Nazerene to seek, the Cher-i-bum...
Rides out bel-iev-er, with the spliff, aflame...
Mari-juan-aut escapes earth, to cul-ti-vate...

48:30 A lull comes that makes you feel tired from your great journey.3

50:30 Out of nowhere a blaring solo comes in telling you to press on and giving you motivation for your spiritual journey.

52:00 Back to the journey as your spiritual guidance fades away and the original chorus is played.

53:15
Grow-ro-om is chu-rch temp-le of the new ston-er breed...
Chants lo-ud robed priest, down on-to the freedom seed...
Burnt of-ferings re-deems, com-pletes smo-ked deliv-erance...
Caravans' ston-ed deliv-erance...
The caravan holds to Eastern Creed, now smokes' believ---er...
The Chronicle of the Sen-sim-ill-ian...

57:30 The instruments tell you that the journey is coming to an end.

58:25
Dr--rop-- out of life, with bo--ng in-- ha---nd...
Follo---w the smoke toward the riff-filled la-----nd...
Dr--rop-- out of life, with bo--ng in-- ha---nd...
Follow the smoke, Jerus-alem...

The song slowly fades out the way it came it and you feel complete euphoria and achievment, like you climbed Mount Sinai and talked to God face to face.

SONIC TITAN 10/10
This song has a much faster pace giving it more of a Stoner Metal sound. It starts out with a little feedback arrangement then cruises straight into the main chorus. After a little while everything drops but the guitar, slowly plucking the chords until the bass comes in with the same fashion, at the last the drums come in with a slow rhythm, mostly cymbals. Then it grows back into the chorus.

Everything drops but a slow bass-line which after a few bars is filled in with feedback. A few more bars and a raw voice comes in sounding like a giant, giving you a feeling of misunderstanding.

The song reminds me of Iron Man, not because of the sound (even though Sleep is directly influenced by Sabbath) but because of the feeling. A monstrous titan trying to live in peace but is seen as a threat and feared.

The song progresses in the usually Sleep format: slowing and then picking back up.

After a few minutes the guitar rises above all instruments in volume and speed and gives a feeling of chaos. After awhile if fades back into the chorus and the song soon ends with feedback.
