Review Summary: It's all in your head.

I have never been this torn on an album, or an artist in general. Half of me loves Vomir for his simplicity, as well as the emotion he invokes. The other half despises this album, because it is nearly 100 minutes of unceasing, distorted, lo-fi noise. So I will be delivering this review in two parts. The first part will be looking at this album, which I will refer to as Musique, from an emotional point of view. The last part will deal with this album from a standpoint that's a bit harsher.

Part I: Musique is an album from Vomir released back in 2012. It contains three tracks, ranging from nine minutes in length to over an hour in length. Although the full name of this album translates to 'music indifference' which implies it has no emotion or feelings whatsoever, it still stirs up some form of anger or sadness in you by the end. Musique isn't supposed to get a message across with poignant lyrics, or dramatic orchestral arrangements. All the emotions you feel while listening to this album were already inside you. The noise of Musique, its deep layered sounds with a harsh crunch, lets you paint your own feelings, and your own interpretations onto itself. It's like a grey, brick wall the listener is standing in front of, with spray paint at their disposal. You could create astonishing art on this wall, or you could make it revolting to look at.

Part II: Musique is an album from Vomir released back in 2012. It is 97 minutes of a dull, lifeless, never-ending sound. It contains no changes. No varying movements. No story. It is pure filth from the depths of Vomir's bowels, and he wanted people to listen to this. He actually thought that some people would find this album, listen to it, and look back on it, thinking that they enjoyed what they listened to. And the worst part is that he's right. There's a YouTube video of Vomir performing live, which is about half an hour length, containing his full set. The performance goes like this: Vomir has his back to the audience, playing harsh noise just like the noise on Musique, while a blue light flashes for the entire half hour. I think that flashing blue light had more variation than this noise. It could be called entertaining to dig deeper in the static and see just how many layers of sound there are, tucked behind a curtain of white noise. But I wouldn't spend too much time on that.

As you can see, the way to interpret this album is entirely up to the listener. And I think that's what Vomir wanted. Of course he knew most people would hate this. Really, who would want to seek something like this out in the first place? But it's okay. Musique is whatever you want it to be. It's a blank slate. It's your choice.

Gave it a 2.5 because Part I would rate the album favorably, while Part II would rate it poorly. A 2.5 is right in-between.

Why, are you gonna express your argument through a never ending noise album that you add to every day?

Good review, I like how you broke it up which I would normally consider a bad idea but you pulled it off.
