Coming from a fan who has waited with an unjustified anxiety for this album my opinions may seem biased but they are my own. Saying that i will follow up by stating how ingenious i've come to realize this album really is. For those who have educated themselves in some of the subjects maynard has injected into his songwriting you will hopefully understand what i am talking about. Maynard seems to have a way of pointing out the flaws of human nature that we all push into the back of our minds in order to live free of guilt. One of todays biggest human idiosyncracies maynard chooses to exploit, is our inability to recognize our lack of compassion towards human life as we sit and watch all these terrible things happen around us. I have come to the conclusion that Maynard is trying to get across to us that even those of us who recognize this fact can only sit back and watch as the world falls apart around us and the only one to blame is ourselves. This is what i love about the group is not only is the music amazing but the lyrics alone have to power to compell a person to remove themselves from a state of closed-mindedness and take a look outside of the propaganda fed to us through the television. Thus the contiuous references to the "Third Eye". The art work is a whole separate creature from the music itself. I cant even begin to write anything that would properly describe the elegance and depth put into the art inside this album. For anyone who is looking for more than just music to "trip out" to and craves some kind of intelligence within the singers songwriting abilities then i would recommend spending the money to buy this album.

Ok review, but this album is not a 5/5. At best 3/5, with even corny lyrics at times. I would say pick it up, becuase there is 3 or 4 classic tool songs, but the rest is just passable.

Interesting review. As a suggestion, try and talk a little about the actual music portion of the album next time.

The Pot and Sober are really the only songs from them that I listen to regularly.

no way. not a masterpiece or something, but still great stuff. though, as any tool album, it takes an endlessly long time to grow, and this time the result maybe doesn't justify the costs as much as with for example Lateralus

giving this a 1 isn't even justifiable. just melodramatic.

How they survive so misguided is a mystery.
