Review Summary: The album title says it all but it isn't a very good kind of Evolution.
So here we have good ol' (hed) p.e. You know, the "in your face" anti-religion/anti-politics band. I woke up on the day on July 22, 2014. I had summer school in the afternoon so I decided to go to Best Buy to pick up the new (hed) album. I was so excited. I went back home, posted a pic of the album on Twitter, put it on my iTunes and imported it to my iPod. I felt so much excitement, I just couldn't wait. As I approached my summer school I popped my earbuds in and started up the album.
Now the first song starts up with some sort of bongos. Then the guitar kicks in like a kick to the face. Immediately I noticed the "Evolution" of their musical direction. It's almost as if they are trying to go mainstream. First song ends and I didn't mind it. The next couple songs were plagued with boring and uninspired formulas. Jahred seemed like he was going to fall asleep in most of the songs. As so did I.
The next decent song was "No Tomorrow". The guitar line on that kicked ass. Even my friend who despised (hed) was drooling over the song. He didn't even recognize who it was until I told him. Then the reason why i gave this album a 2. The last three songs are terrible. They are throw away reggae songs from Jahred's "Doomsday Paradise" solo album. Or so it seems like they are. It completely ruined the "Heavy Metal" vibe of the album. The album would of gotten at least a three for me if it weren't for the last three songs. I think the thing I most despise about this album is that if somebody is interested in getting into (hed) and they hear this album, it will drive them away and bore them.
This is honestly (hed)'s worst album so far. I loved all their other albums. I even loved "Blackout" and it was not the "real" (hed). If you are thinking about buying this album, don't. Go buy their other albums instead. There is nothing special at all about this album. Just a long bore-fest. If you want to buy this album for some reason, wait a couple years until the price goes down to about 3 bucks. The album is still 15 bucks to this day and it is not worth it.
