Release Date: 1997 | Tracklist

When green day came out with Dookie in 1994, nobody couldn't have even expected how popular and influential in music they would be come. The band struggled to maintain success and in 1997 they put they're punk rock image on the line with the experimental "Nimrod" and it payed off in a darn good way.

Nice Guys finish Last- This song is really catchy. It follows the typical green Day formula, though it's really upbeat and fun. The lyrics are relatable as well, like "living on demand, your shaking lots of hands" a good opener for the album. 4/5

Hitchin A Ride- this is A weaker moment. The harmonica is a nice touch, but it just comes off as a filler song. It's catchy but not in a good way. And the lyrics are just nonsensical. 1.5/5

The Grouch- This is similar to the opening song in the vain that it follows the same formula. It is much more punk-ish, and has good lyrics. And it's a headbanger too I guess. 2/5

Redundant- this is by far The albums best song. It has excellent lyrics and a good sound even though it is a little poppish. Plus the video is really funny. 5/5

Scattered- This ones lyrics aren't very good, but it has great guitar work. Tre does good on the drums and Mike isn't that good of to hear. It can be very nostalgic to some. 3.5/5

All The Time- This has great guitar work, basing, and drumming even though the lyrics aren't that great. It is more punk fueled and does a good Job on delivery. 3/5

Worry Rock- This is just another boring, generic and unspired love song that tries to be a punk track but fails. The lyrics are cheesy and the guitar and drums are pretty average. Filler. 1/5

Platypus (I Hate You)- This is a really good song. It is out of control in terms of the instrumentation, and BJA's vocals are wild and in the bridge he starts swearing worse than a sailor. 5/5

Uptight- This has excellent bass work, decent guitar licks and nice drumming to accompany BJ's nice lyrics. Another highlight. 5/5

Since "Last Ride In" is an instrumental song I'm going to skip it.

Jinx- Here is one of the shorter songs and better ones. Although the lyrics are pretty average, the guitar work and vocals are great. Good punk song. 4/5

Haushinka- Pretty much Jinx with different lyrics. 3/5

Walking Alone- One of the "different" songs. Like Hitchin A Ride, it employs a harmonica but this time it works. The lyrics aren't great but the strong work at the instruments make up for it. 2.5/5

Reject- As for lyrics, pretty self explanatory. Another fast punk song, decent. 3.5/5

Take Back- Pretty much Green days take on metal, it's only 1 minute long and completey ditches the three cord stuff. Listen for yourself. 4/5

King For A Day- This is more of a joke song and another different song. The lyrics are about Billie Joe being a cross dresser and its a fun song if you want a good laugh or thrill. Implies a lot of brass. 4/5

Good Riddance- SURELY you've heard this little diddy before, it was played for eons on the radio for the longest time and it is popular at graduations. It's a beautiful song with great gutair work and vocals. 5/5

Prosthetic Head- garbage. Basically filler at the end of the album. 0.5/5

Nimrod is a very good album despite some bad songs, definitely give it a listen. One of they're best by far.

I'm not gonna vote, just going to say that unless you can talk about all of the songs in great detail,

you're best off not doing a track by track review.

Reject- As for lyrics, pretty self explanatory. Another fast punk song, decent. 3.5/5

What is that supposed to tell us about the song?

One of they're best by far.

Didn't you hear? Instrumentals have no musical value whatsoever.

Hitchin' A Ride is one of the best songs Green Day have ever done, you hardly justify the 1.5 you gave

it.

"nobody couldn't have even expected" - *could have
"they would be come" - *become
"they're punk rock image/One of they're best" - *their
"it payed off" - *paid
"And the lyrics are.../And it's a.../Plus the video..." - Don't start sentences with conjunctions
"This ones lyrics" - *one's
"Tre does good on the drums and Mike isn't that good of to hear" - ???? Clean this up
"basing" - Is this even a word? Just say "bass"
"and BJA's vocals are wild and in the bridge he starts swearing worse than a sailor" - Use a comma
"the strong work at the instruments" - *on the instruments
"Green days take on metal" - *Day's
"this little diddy" - *ditty

Not to mention the total clusterfuck of random capitalisation. Please proofread carefully next time.

I hate to be "that dick" but there was so much that needed correcting here.

On the other hand, your review made me listen to this after a long time. Hitchin a Ride, Redundant and Uptight are jams.

"Very strong effort despite some weak spots."

If some of it's weak, then how is it "very strong" as a whole? Your track-by-track scoring certainly doesn't suggest this is a particularly strong album, much less a 4.5. Speaking of the scores, 0.5/5 for Prosthetic Head and 1/5 for Worry Rock? Harsh.

I don't even know what else to say about this... "review".

Either way, this album slays; Hitchin' A Ride, Redundant, and Reject are some of Green Day's finest achievements.

this isn't that bad of a review. definitely work on what people said but you're on the right track. every reviewer starts off with track by tracks. the best thing to do is to read other reviews and focus on the album as a whole. keep practicing! also it's cool that you're willing to give bad ratings to popular songs. a lot of people kind of mellow down their opinions because it seems like they should think certain ways, keep not doing that, subjectivity is underrated.

Decent review, but no pos or neg, bud. Just avoid track-by-tracks for sure, also you don't justify a lot of your ratings, like the one for "Hitchin A Ride." Try and veer away from track-by-tracks in the feature, and like challenged said, props for objectivity.

You gave this a 5/5 yet you rated several songs with sub 2.5s and one 0/5. Nice one. And I guess instrumentals dont count as music in your universe?

Edit: I did the math and your song ratings average out to a 3.1/5 which is far from what you gave it.

This is a pretty silly review. Don't agree with a lot of it but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

That being said--- How can "Hitchin' A Ride" be filler when it was the first radio single released from this album???
