Release Date: 1981 | Tracklist

Review Summary: A collection of hard rock songs that aren't Priest.

After the success of British Steel, Priest was definitely not going to abandon the sound. Released in 1981, this album was in between British Steel and Screaming for Vengeance which makes this album often overlooked and is best off that way. The metal edge is completely gone from this album. This album is what the titles says. The album sounds like any generic hard rock band would make. Though there are still some good songs off the album.

Where do I even start? Don't Go and Hot Rockin' are annoying tunes that any rock band could've done. You Say Yes has the worst Priest chorus I've ever heard and makes me wonder how they wrote the classic albums from the past and what they would make in the future (Sad Wings of Destiny and Painkiller). It's so unbearable and goes like this:

Quote:
You say yes, I say no
You say yes, I say no
There are a few standouts thank god. The opener Heading Out to the Highway is a nice catchy song about driving, hence the title. Desert Plains and Solar Angels are the most metal you'll get off this album! And it has guitar solos! The heavy songs are also hooky and grabs your attention which is nice.

+The good songs off the album show they can still do hard rock and heavy metal nicely

-Overall, the album is bland and uninspired
-Sounds like any hard rock band could have done this album
-Way too many generic songs

Recommended Tracks:
Heading Out to the Highway
Desert Plains
Solar Angels

An experimental foray into pop-metal that mostly works, but also confuses many Priest fans....

The review is pretty short by Sputnik standards, but I agree with you on the basic premise. I'm glad they came back to form with the next two albums.

So, nice of you to abandon a track by track format, smart decision. However, your review has little to no depth, as Snowdog noted. You do a nice job of describing some circumstances under which Point Of Entry was made, but as far as its sound goes, you don't say much besides call it generic. My advice, go a little more deep on your ideas. There's a lot more you can say from what you've got written. I hope you understand I'm not trying to be a dick to you, I'm just providing you some constructive criticism so you can improve on your writing. Pos'd for your effort. As for Point Of Entry, I haven't heard it besides Heading Out To The Highway and Desert Plains. I love both tracks, so I guess I should probably check it out, even if its average rating isn't spectacular.

I understand, there's not really to much for me to say about this because this album bores me that's why it was short

I think it bored Nagnarok a lot too when he wrote his review, and he had quite a bit to say about it. When I become a better writer I would love to review Judas Priest albums, but this honestly is an album I would be reluctant to revisit. They made something even worse two decades later though.

Priest album titles have always disturbed me to some extent...

"Ram it Down" sounds like throatfucking
"Point of Entry" sounds like anal penetration
"Turbo" just...

etc.

Yeah Snowdog, Demolition was awful. I started checking out Point Of Entry and it's actually not so bad even if not amazing, maybe a 3 for me atm.

Those names would kind of make since Laughing considering Halford's homosexuality, plus all three were colossal disappointments considering this band is the same artist of Stained Class, Sin After Sin, and Sad Wings of Destiny. If there was less pigshit in the Priest catalog I would like them a fair amount more than Iron Maiden.

I know it seems kind of edgy of me or Nagnarok when he wrote his reviews to hate on this album or even Turbo, but I am very glad the majority of Sputnik sees what an atrocity Demolition was. Even though I despise this, Turbo, and both Ripper albums, they all beat the hell out of much of the 2000s' mainstream rock. I'm very glad Halford would exploit his powerful high range more in Screaming and Defenders, because his holding back in this album is one aspect I dislike about it.
