Forget all the other 'classics' live and dangerous is the greatest live album ever.Filmed on a tour supporting Johnny the fox and Bad reputation , the disk captures Lizzy in all there live glory. The genius harmonised guitar work of Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson , along with the Brain Downey's solid beat , provides the perfect hard hitting backdrop for Lynott's tales of life and love in some of the greatest rock songs ever to grace your ears.

Jailbreak 4.5/5:What an opener! , the chugging three chord riff gets the whole thing going very nicely. The guitars here are awesome , and Lynotts bass playing is very interestin , and nowhere near generic. The lyrics of the song are interesting insightful , and with the bonus of Lynotts communication with the dazzled crowd , this is spectacular.

Emerald 5/5:WOAH!! This is the song which made me want to play guitar , this is the song which one of the greatest testaments to rock 'n' roll.Gorham and Robertson provide not 1 , not 2 , not 3 , but 4 !! classic rock riffs. It still truely amazes me how great and epic this song is.Lynotts lyrics really paint a picture of a war ravaged landscape , but here they are outshined but something more genuis. The amazing blues influenced answer and call solo , which lasts for the best part of 2 minutes is just awe inspiring , instant guitar hero status is earned for both players here , just pure gold.

Southbound 4/5:The song opens with a classic harmony riff , which is greeted warmly by the crowd. This in't a Lizzy classic , but still a great song.Phil's singing is brilliant here , and the drums are quite inventive. And of course another genius solo!

Rosalie/Cowgirl's Song 4/5:From the opening lick we all know this is rocking!, Lizzy could even rock out the covers. The drums here are definetly worth a mention they really energize the song. With a strong chorus and an upbeat melody it uplifts you , surely the album cant have 5 strong tracks in a row? And it even has a taster of Cowboy Song!

Dancing In The Moonlight 5/5:As soon as the funky bassline kicks in , you are guaranteed another remarkable song.Everything about this song is brilliant , the bassline is inspired , the drums provide a solid but imaginairy rhythm section, the lyrics and melody are very orignal , and the guitars well the guitars are awesome. The verse chords are a very nice funky combination , but the solo is where Scott shines , its just so good , its just tasty.John Earle provides some excellent saxophone playing on this track , which makes the song even more funky, the second best track on the album .. In my opinion :)

Massacre 4/5:Fading into the reasonably soft Dancing , we are greeted with a heavy harmonised riff , followed by a fast chorus. The combinaion of the guitars and Lynotts vocals really make you imagine a massacre taking place , sort of disturbing lol.The solo is brilliant as ever and it recognises the band as a hard rock force not to be reckoned with.

Still In Love With You 5/5:Such a beautiful song , Phil's vocals are touching and orignal. The song is very sad but is so personal , you can't help but love it.The chordal work underneath is nothing short of brilliance , but the highlight of the song has to be the beautiful solos. They are just so amazing and really bring a bluesy feel to this already brilliant tune.

Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed 4/5:Funktastic (sorry) this song is very funky and makes you wanna tap your foot to the beat.As ever Phil's paints a picture of two strangers meeting each with there own distinct personalities. The song marks a sort of change form regular but a nice change nevertheless.

Cowboy Song 5/5!!!:This is the definitive Lizzy song , infact it is probably the greatest song ever. The guitar work is amazing , just pure amazing , the riffs are brillaintly made and the solos .... nothing short of god like.Only few solos make me feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up , these do , the song just makes me feel so happy , it is the perfect example of Lizzy's genius.Once again Lynotts vocals are expertly written with insightful words.A true live classic , I will never get bored of this song.

The Boys Are Back In Town 4.5/5:Even if you don't know Lizzy you know this one surely a staple in all guitar classics / dad compilations everwhere?. But regardless of its commercialbility it is a great song.Lynott is a master story teller and paints a very interesting story. For the opening riff the bass and guitar seam together so well , and the harmony parts are classic.Forget all the other versions the live version is the definitive!

Don't Believe A Word 5/5: I love this song , the song is so geniusly crafted. Its opening riff is brilliant and the melody is equally as good.Due to the shortness it feels really rocking and inspiring. Both solos here are great and the drumming is also worth a mention. But i mean you don't have to believe a word of the review(sorry..)

Warrior 4/5:A forgotten classic from the Jailbreak album, some interesting lyrics and an equally interesting guitar riff.I dont really have much to say on this , its a good song enjoy.

Are You Ready? 3.5/5:My only below 4 of the review ( shock!!!) I mean this song is ok.. I'm just not into as i've been of others , a good live song i must say , but the lyrics are sorta generic, but alas a good solo as usual.

Suicide 5/5:I'm totally into this song , a very funky beginning with some very cool guitar parts.Lynott again tells of some very interesting stuff , and the drums provide a loose feel that adds to the otherall funk feel.Highly recommended.

Sha La La 4/5:This is pretty much an instrumental track, and a good one at that. Now I have nothing about Brian Downey but I don't like drum solo's.When band perfrom them i just feel bored after 1 minute. But nevertheless some great drumming throughout along with some pretty inspiring solos.Well done lads!

Baby Drives Me Crazy 4/5: Another loose feel song , the crowd interaction is cool and entertaining. The bass is top notch and the guitars produced a very bluesy feel about them.I really like this track , and the Harmonicas just make the whole thing better.

The Rocker 5/5: The final track :( dam you!! , well here we are we are at the finale of the best concert ever.Phil's interaction is again very entertaining , and the guitars add a lot of spice to the mix.You can tell the whole band are enjoying themsleves and they know they have done good.

Conclusion:
Seriously buy this album it is the best live album ever!! Many people may question me and say it is has been dubbed in the studio(due to its great quality). If it has or not that is regardless really , the concert was , and is the best piece of rock music to be 'recorded' its rock 'n ' roll baby

Hope you enjoyed the review , please leave a comment :)

Many thanks , Lukai

I found the review very biased. Also you should should check your punctuation and spelling.

There isn't a space before a comma for instance.

Finally someone reviewed this! While I wouldn't call this the best live album ever, its certainly a testament to Thin Lizzy's skills.

Jailbreak is the only TL album i've heard in full but i've heard some tracks off here and they were really good as well.

The review was good as but as someone mentioned, a bit biased. Though the cowboy song is very good, saying it is the greatest song ever is quite a statement. This Message Edited On 04.20.06

One of the many great albums that have been forgotten sadly from the 70's. The guitar solo on "Still In Love With You" is one of my all-time favorites.

THIS ------ is thee-- best live album ever released PERIOD.
There is no weakness,, all bases are covered.
Songs, guitar work,,Phil and his brilliant songwriting/lyrics/hooks and bass tone which is never really discussed. The tone of his bass was identical to his voice.
It's a damn shame they weren't MEGA in the USA as they should have been.
I was fortunate to see them on the Alive and Dangerous tour,, at the Paradise Club in Boston..seating of a only few hundred.
One of the best live shows I had the privilege of witnessing.

PS,, so what you mispelled a few words,, big freakin' deal..you got your point across.

GREAT REVIEW.....

One of the best live albums ever, and possibly the best collection of Thin Lizzy songs.

This just shows how damn good they are, that were it not for the crowd/Phill's between song banter, you'd think this was a studio recording.

The review is a little biased but he did get one thing absolutely right. This is the best live album ever. Anyone who wouldn't put this in their top picks on the subject obviously hasn't heard it.

Such an incredible performance. Each song on this one is an upgrade compared to the studio version. That says a lot.
