Review Summary: The progression of Bombay Bicycle Club

Bombay Bicycle Club- So Long,See You Tomorrow
Bombay Bicycle Club have always been a band evolving their sound since their debut album which was an infectious indie album with standout tracks like Always Been Like This and What If.It was'nt a groundbreaking album by any means but it did show they have a knack for writing really catchy indie songs in their own way.

Fast forward a few years with the latest album So Long,See you tomorrow we see the band moving away from the more guitar based sound and encorporating a more ethnic and electronic sound. This is likely due to singer Jack Steadman travelling through India,Turkey and Japan while writing songs. You could say tho that the seeds were showing on A Different Kind Of Fix with Lights Out,Words Gone which hinted maybe a change in direction to a fuller sound.

Overdone starts things off with a sampled mellotron before evolving into a big bollywood sound and then into a more straight forward track with some lovely sounding guitar/bass tones.Right away you can hear the elements that will occupy the album. On such tracks as Carry Me the aggressiveness of the drums and sampled vocals work really well leading into Home By Now which floats over electronic and organic drums.
The beautiful Whenever Wherever harks back to the previous album but still has a little progresssion but the melody is very similar to something you would find on A Different Kind OF fix. That is no knock on the track itself but it does slow the album up somewhat in the running order I do think.

The standout track and current single Luna might be the best thing they have ever done with wonderful african sounding percussion and massive drums. All this is intersected with vocals by Jack Steadman and Rae Morris which add a beautiful delicate sound to the mix.Their voices blend together to great effect on the song.

The artwork of the album does show from day to night and this could be a hint at the running order as once it gets further down the record it does have a certain different sound from the start.Feel which is the most ethnic sounding track on the album has a brilliant rhythm section and a guitar line that is straight out of Indian music which flows from start to finish.
Bombay Bicycle Club have made an interesting album. The melodies are not that memorable on alot of tracks which is where the album does loose a little focus as my attension is drawn towards the music more. That being said So Long,See You Tomorrow is a very enjoyable album and continue the growth of Bombay Bicycle Club.

Hi, welcome to Sputnik! I know it's your first review, but if I may give you some constructive feedback, there are some things you could do to improve your writing.

Firstly, you should always put song names in quotations and album names in italics. To do this, put [ i ] in front of the title and [ / i ] after it (with no spaces between those characters).

Secondly, try not to use text-speak like "tho" as it is not professional.

Thirdly, always put a space after a period when starting the next sentence.

Overall a decent first review, but just make sure to fix grammar mistakes and formatting issues, and that will improve your writing greatly for starters.

I like the Indian and African influences. I wish the album had more--maybe next time. Nice review!

Agree with the review completely. To me their new work is not as good as Different Kind, but they have managed to produce an intriguing follow-up. At the very least it leaves you.. curious? Anyway it has potential to grow.
