Review Summary: Classic #2... oh why couldn't they stay?
Chapter IV: The Dark, Dark Bright
Can i pose a question for ya all right now? What if Green Day had broke up after this album, hah? Tell me how it would efect the punk rock scene of the 90s. This is the album that showed them at a consistent streek of classic albums - they never did that again. It sucked because green day proved they were rockin' out the wave of a nicely streaking punk streak of streakers. I want to insert a joke here but you good kids in the comments told me not too, so thanks for saving me from being a some bad writer skills.
Anyways let me give you an inside insider scoop on a life in the day of me. For me anger is the best key in music. ***ty, ***ty, ***ty, ***ty, ***ty bands like Slipknot are saved based on their sheer pissed-off ness and depression catharsis like symptoms from the messed up mind of his lead singer. Wait - let me look him up. His name is corey Taylor. I liked the album Iowa because it was so pissed off. "People = ***" Was a great song. But Vol. 3 wasn't all that good because more mellow and no use of the word ***. I like the word *** - it displays emotion and irate-ness. Back to Insomniac - it says *** a lot. Must be agood album, right? But that's not why. Anyway, I said before I like angry misic. Insomniac is angry. The album was made when Billy Joe gave birth to his ***ing kid - he was ***in mad because he screamt through the nite. Wet dreams maybe, for an infant.
Armatage Shanks opens up the album - and Insomniac is a good album because it has Green Day mad and pissed off. There is bad production on it to give it a more hardcore punk feel like Black Flag, Fuagzi and Minor Threat. Whoops, I made another typo. It should say Fugazi in that sentence. I remembered that their name is spelled like that. So anyway Insomniac is a great record because of its grittiness and hardcore sound. Brat is also good. The album has good singles too - Walking Condradicktion is a good closer, and got good riffs. I'm a smart ass but I'm playing dumb - HUH!
So many clasic songs are on Insomniac - how could we forget the riffin' punker "Bab's Uvula Who?" which is all ***ed ***ed ***ed up. "Stuart and The Ave." is one of green Day's best songs, and is surely Insomniac's best. Mike Dirnt has a sexy orgasmic bassline played. Oh my god. That bass. That ***ing bass is so cool. I surely love it badly. tre Cool can drum the *** out of the drums too! The single "Brain Stew/Jaded" is nice. Brain Stew is kinda ***ing laggy and repetitive. So Jaded is fast and furious. Lyrics are not as sexual as before though - no songs about jacking off or lyrics about whores. But it's good. maturity is a key. So key baby. I like the key. It's so good. Even "Stuck With Me" is ***ing dark too.
I'm a dark person. I don't like happyness. "Insomniac" is not a happy album. Brooding at dark it seems like Green Day were on course for a great career. If only they continued down the anger, booze-filled addicted path they were on, they would be legends. Insomniac impacted me because this along with Tool's AEnima and System of a Down's s/t were some of the albums that blackened my heart. I didn't want to be happy, all I wanted to do was get laid and try some drugs. Unfortunately, I could not succeed the former because girls found me grabbing their asses so ***ing creepy, and telling girls you want to *** them will not result in them actually ***ing you. Insomniac is in my car right now - I type this as I am parked on 8th Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States, Earth. I jam the album, right now I am on "Geek Stink Breath", and I smile at its wit and charm. I loved you Green Day. Come back to quality and we can be together.
