Yes, that's right, this was one of the albums that got the perfect 5 mic rating from The Source Magazine. While misogynistic, and very very offensive, I believe that this album truly deserves it. Speaking of misogynistic and offensive, this album is pretty much offensive in every which way possible. It had foul language, violence (specifically against women), and much much more. It had so much of it, that it saw activist groups unsuccessfully trying to ban the album. That, my friend, is the definition of horrorcore hip hop.
The Geto Boys (at the time of this album) consist of, Scarface, Willie D, and Buschwick Bill, and were one of the best hip hop groups of (dare I say it) ALL TIME! Now for the track by track review.
1. Do It Like A G.O: Classic song. 5/5
2. Gangsta of Love: This song, features Willie D and Scarface rhyming about how they treat women (I'll give you a hint again: activists tried to ban the album, how do you think they treated their women). Classic song. 5/5
3. Talkin' Loud Ain't Saying Nothin: This song, has the Geto Boys rhyming about how they like to beat people up. Classic song. 5/5
4. Read These Nikes: This one, has the Willie D rhyming about, how he likes to put his shoes on peoples faces (by the title, I'm guessing that he has a nice taste of shoes). Classic song. This song samples, "It Takes Two" by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock, and other songs. 5/5
5. Size Ain't ***: This is a Buschwick Bill solo, and has him rhyming about, no matter how small he may be, he's still awesome. Classic song. 5/5
6. Seek and Destroy: This is a Scarface solo, and has him rhyming about how he uses his weapons (specifically guns). Classic song. 5/5
7. No Sellout: This has Willie D and Scarface rhyming about how they are black and they are proud (not in a Public Enemy type way). Classic song. 5/5
8. Let a Ho Be a Ho: This is a Willie D rhyming about what you would think by the title. Classic song. 5/5
9. Scarface: This is a Scarface solo, that has him introducing him, and his persona, since this is his first album. Classic song. This song samples, "Straight Outta Compton", and other songs. 5/5
10. Life In the Fast Lane: Another Scarface solo. Classic song. 5/5
11. Trigga-Happy Nigga: This one has all of the Geto Boys, rhyming about how they are "trigger happy". Classic song. 5/5
12. Mind of a Lunatic: This one is possibly the most controversial song on the album, dealing with necrophilia. Classic song. 5/5
Overall, although this is very VERY offensive, it's a classic. I give it a perfect rating.
