Review Summary: An underground group's first major album with virtually no filler, incredible lyrics and excellent production on many tracks.

First of all its not "Sciences of life" its Scienz, singular. get it right. The album is called Project Overground most likely because they are an UNDERground group. They made 2 albums ("Powers of Nine Ether/The Anthem""Metaphysic/2000 and What to Expect!") on Fondle Em Records, which launched the career of MF DOOM through the group KMD as well as other artists like MF GRIMM and the Jugganots. This album was made for the label Sub Verse (Fondle 'Em Records broke up in 2001).

MF DOOM is the biggest, and probably only well known, star to be on this album in the song "Yikes" -a slow paced serene song that rap songs are hardly ever are able to achieve while still being interesting and stimulating.

Fans of the DOOM will also recognize Stacy Epps from her hypnotic singing in the song "Eye" on the Madvillainy album. She is featured on 5 of the songs on this album including "Original Rap" a track impressive mainly for it's lyrics and flow. The beat is simple, which makes the song slightly less enjoyable than the others, but this still draws more attention to the rapping in this song which is some of the best verses on the album.

"Hot Bananas" will have you thinking of sweet memories of your childhood, the beat sounds like an old theme song. Plus who can't appreciate a course about fried bananas and orange marmalade in the summer.... ahhh.

"Jazz Sessions" continues where Yikes left off with incredibly smooth lyrics over a piano beat that makes most other rap beats sound like random noise in comparison.

"Ancient Ritualz Ii" has a very mysterious and exotic sound that uses singing monks on the chorus making the some reminiscent of nas's It Aint Hard to Tell on Illmatic.

Overall the album is incredibly smooth for a rap album, fans of rap with complex lyrics like MF DOOM, KRS-ONE or GZA will really like this, but even people who don't listen to rap may like a lot of these songs because it is more easy to understand, smooth and overall better crafted than even some the best rap albums.
Note: The album on itunes has significantly better quality than on youtube.
