Power Quest is an English power metal band that was created in 2001 by Steve Willliams, the ex-keyboardist of Dragonforce. While Power Quest may not be as well known as some of its contemporaries such as Dragonforce and Sonata Arctica, the band released some really great albums. Wings Of Forever, released in 2002, is Power Quest's debut album that demonstrates the band's ability to create terrifically catchy power metal.

The album begins with Prelude To Destiny (Intro), a keyboard-driven piece that establishes a majestic atmosphere. After the intro, the fast-paced title track shows off the vocals of Alessio Garavello, who sounds similar to Michael Kiske (ex-vocalist of Helloween). Now comes the band's most popular song, Far Away; and it is an extremely catchy song that exemplifies power metal. The album continues with another speedy track, Glory Tonight; and this one includes an exceptional guitar solo. The epic Power Quest (Part 1) follows, and it is the type of track that evokes images of a warrior standing on top of a mountain with a sword in his hand.

The next song, Beyond The Stars, is reminiscent of Dragonforce, which isn't unusual considering that Sam Totman (one of the founders of Dragonforce) is one of the guitarists on this album. At this point in the album, the tempo slows down with the terrific ballad Immortal Plains, which features guest female vocals; and with the mid-paced track Follow Your Heart, which has an awesome chorus. The album ends with the philosophical song Freedom Of Thought, which contains some excellent guitar work; and with Distant Lands (Outro), which has a mellow atmosphere. The bonus track, Gates Of Tomorrow, is a beautiful instrumental that features the flute, and it is unlike anything on this album.

Even though Power Quest's debut album is not groundbreaking, it features superb musicianship, and it is filled with many memorable songs. Wings Of Forever is highly recommended to anyone who likes fast, catchy, and uplifting music.

This is my first review. This album is one of the best power metal debuts ever, and Power Quest is a band that deserves more recognition.

Well written, pos.

Next time, try to avoid mentioning every song title and describe the album as a whole.

Keep writing.

Decent first review - but basically what Voivod said. Keep at it!

This band DEFINITELY needs more attention. Everywhere. I've not been able to pick their first 2 albums up though..
