Review Summary: Good cd, but lacks second guitar, and the album is alot less darker than the past. Still was catchy and I still enjoyed it though.
This album is really good, but not the best album of Seether. I think Seether has changed quite a bit though. I can understand that too, because the band had to go on without one of their guitarists. That can effect how your music is going to be. It effected Korn, didn't it? I think they sound less dark. The theme of this album was mainly suicide, because of the death of Shawn Morgan's brother. Songs like " Like Suicide", "No Jesus Christ", and "Waste" have such a theme.
Track Review:
1. Like Suicide-This song has a catchy chorus. The middle is good. It kinda builds up to the middle. It starts off soft. When it gets to the middle, it gets pretty hard. Then ends with the chorus. This song is about suicide. Good song. 3.5/5
2. Fake It-This song is really catchy. The whole song has one certain rhythm to it. But it's catchy. It's like Korn's Coming Undone, but better. This song is the song that would receive the air time on the album. This song is one of the best songs on the album. I was impressed! 4.5/5
3. Breakdown-This song is pretty dark compared to most songs on this album. The song was catchy, but it didn't catch fire like "fake it". It did end up being a single, but out of the three they released. This was
the worst of them. I still enjoyed listening to this song though. It was great! 3.5/5
4.FMLYHM-This song has a beat going at first, but it quickly loses that and the song becomes minor. The chorus is stupid. The song doesn't stand out on the album. 2.5/5
5. Fallen-This song is another song that didn't stand out. I personally don't listen to this song much. The chorus is kinda catchy, but the lyrics are just stupid to me. 2.5/5
6. Rise Above This-Good song! The song is catchy through-out the song. The song isn't dark but the rythm keeps the song going. I got hooked the first time I heard it. Great song! 4.5/5
7.No Jesus Christ-This song is pretty average. It's catchy, but no parts stand out. The only thing that makes this song better is because it's harder than almost every other song. The only problem is that the
ending is instrumental for three, maybe four minutes. Other than that good song.
8.Six Gun Quota-The reason I like this song is because it is catchy from beginning to end. It's just like "rise above this". The thing that stand out is that the chorus. The chorus is classic. I had it stuck in my head for quite a long time before I turned to another song. Good song! 4/5
9.Walk Away Fron the Sun-This song is more grunge than alot of the tracks on this cd. The lyrics are a little bit messed up, an example is "so tiny dancer beware, when medicated and scared." In my opinion, that's jacked up. It's pretty catchy, but it isn't a song I would listen to day after day. Average song. 3/5
10.Eyes of the Devil-This song is kinda like "walk away from the song", but it has a catchier chorus and its harder in my opinion. I enjoyed it. It just wasn't the track of the album. 3/5
11.Don't Beilieve-The distorted guitar makes this song weird. It's kinda dark. The chorus is catchy, but it's not that good. Not a highlight of the CD. 2.5/5
12.Waste-this song might have been one of the least heavy songs on this album, but dang was it catchy! It had me singing it for a couplenof days. In fact, I thought this could have been a better single than "breakdown". I loved it. I liked the verses, they were kinda dark and dreary, but still kept the consistency of the catchiness. Probably one of the best ending tracks on an album I have heard. 4.5/5
There you have it! The album could have been darker and in my opinion, needed a second guitar part. Luckily, on the next album they hired one. I am looking forward to hearin the next one!
So that's my opinion on this album. Please comment on anything I need to improve on. Thanks!
