I think that their's only one word who can describe this album: WOW!!!.I've not waited for this album. I just saw a ad on internet about the released of a new darkane record, So I've click and I've seen the video for Secondary Effect. I was stunned! This Album Is a masterpiece and probably the best metal record of the year with Opeth Ghosts Reveries. So let's Review Track By Track.

1.Amnesia of the Wildoerian Apocalypse

This Song Is basically a instrumental who get you in the mood. It's like you're watching a movie and something really bad happened(Armageddon, The Day After, etc.)Then The Band enter with a solid riff and a powerfull drumming.

4/5

2.Secondary Effects

This song is the one who makes me buy this album. The Best of this Death Metal Masterpiece. The Drumming Is like a machine gun and it starts with a thrash riffing madness. The Vocal is really good and fit perfectly. The Best part of the song is the pre-chorus....What an amazing riff!!!!So heavy! this song is so perfectly arrange. Amazing riffing and drumming by the band. The song Features a harmony solo of the two guitarist which is nice.
5/5

3.Organic Canvas

The song starts with a really cool intro. Complicate Drum work as usual. Really amazing chorus because of the vocal. This song as some intense parts. You can hear a meshuggah-like parts in the bridge and I love It. A cool solo is also feature with an other meshuggah like parts in the backround.

4/5

4.Fading Dimension

One Of The best song of the record. It Starts with a sad harmony part. With a solid drum presence. Then a fast Thrash riff comes in and it's like WHOA!!! This song Is crazy. I also like the pre-chorus riff. Great Vocal as usual. Cool solo again.
4,5/5

5. Layers Of Lies

The Them song of the record. It stars with an acoustic part then a nice heavy riff. It's probably one of the best riff of the record. This as something very special. It get's you in a weird mood. I think the vocal is the strong part of the song. Very good guitar work, amazing chorus and drumming. I love the ending Solo
5/5

6. Godforsaken Universe

Another Thrash song who reminds a little bit of fading dimension. The vocal is very strong and the guitar is really nice. Nice Bridge with another nice solo.

4/5

7.Klastrophobic Hibernation

Another short Instrumental song. Really nice riffs. I think the band did'nt want to put this riff in the thrash. Really nice.. but not so important on the record

3,5/5

8.Vision Of Degradation

Starts with another Meshuggah like drumming parts then a solo comes in. But I Think the vocal could have been better. It's my least favorite song of the record.

3,5/5

9.Contaminated

So nice!!!Probably one of the most headbanging riff of the record. I love it!!!The pre-chorus is nice and it's more a thrash song. The drumming is pumping you up. The Chorus Is amazing. The song also feature an amazing weird bridge. Then the song finish with a solo.

5/5

10. Maelstrom Crisis.

Thi is the last instrumental song of the record but this one is much longer than the others. Really nice musicianship. Some guitar riff are so good. The drumming Is like a machine. Cool solo as usual.

4/5

11.Decadent Messiah

I Love the intro!!!The bass is so heavy with the drum...wow!. The a classic swedish metal style riff comes in. The chorus is amazing because of the drumming with a lot of double bass action.Nice solo, nice song!

4,5/5

12.The Creation Insane

The closing Song. One word to descibe it : DRUM. What a nice work by peter. The riffs are also really good as usual. Really cool vocal. A lot more low/growling style in the chorus.Amazing Bridge again with cool solo. I love the closing solo it's pretty intense with the shredding of Christopher.

Total score 5/5

This album is a must!!!!Buy it right now if you don't have it.

Darkane is alright. Nothing that hasn't been done before.

Revolver magazine said this sucked, and also said it was a huge copy of Strapping Young Lad. I have not heard these guys, and am not really interested. This seemed like a bit of a fanboy review, as well.

It sounds a bit like Strapping Young Lad. But not alot.

They sound like a blend of Meshuggah, In Flames, and Unearth. I read that review in Revolver too.

This album isn't really much special. It's all been done before, like I said.

And I would consider this more of a thrash metal album instead of death metal. This Message Edited On 09.26.05

yeah id say this is thrash metal. i love this record.....it has been done before but that shouldnt take away from its greatness. christofer is one of my favorite guitarist....and if you see him live he'll spill out some sick solos that arent in the original songs. darkane are a very down to earth band too as the talked and drank beer with everybody after the show

This is a great album, but a poorly written review. Definitely their high point. Saw these guys live a bit ago and they really impressed me. The guitarist actually let fans in the front of the mosh pit strum melody lines for a few of their songs while they played. I'm not sure how they made it work but they did. Great live set!

I’m about to jam this. Used to love a few songs from these dudes when I was first getting into metal but don’t really remember what they sound like.

It’s a real shame so many people sleep on this band, they have one of the most solid discographies I’ve seen.
