Review Summary: Initially tastes like new and interesting, then quickly turns sour as the movie quotes that dominate the music are the most intricate thing about them.
Killwhitneydead are one those bands that people either love or hate. Stylistically speaking, they are a pretty simplistic metalcore band that integrate movie quotes into their music. "So what"? you ask yourself. Well, they are extremely fun to listen to, if for nothing else to hear what sound clips that they are going to use next.
As I said before, the music is nothing to write home about, and the vocals are fairly standard-issue. There are a few good small guitar solos that pop randomly throughout the disc, such as in the song, "Losing Weight and Looking Great"; there are also some noteworthy growls at the end of that song. Musically speaking, I believe that killwhitneydead are progressing a bit; you can tell because of the fact that drums are becoming more technical, and the guitars have abandoned the distorted fuzz that was there in every single song in past releases.
Unfortunately, once you get past the fun fact of them using movie quotes in quite a prolific manner (at least three or four a song), there really is not much substance to the songs themselves. What little lyrical content there is deals almost exclusively with dreams of killing ex-girlfriends.
