Review Summary: bad rapper makes a horrible album.

Lil Keke is one of many rappers that have been hyped up in the hip hop community to the point of myth in recent years. Like Saigon and plenty of other MC’s, I didn’t expect him to live up to all the hype. One thing that stood out about Keke though, and this is the kicker, is that he was probably the weakest of all of these new hyped up rappers. Keke was raised under Paul Wall’s wing popularity-wise, but in Texas he has had quite a large following. Eventually gained enough popularity elsewhere through guest appearances among the hip hop community and gained enough hope for a major label to accept his first world-wide album. Unfortunately, I was right about Keke, and suffice to say, Loved by Few, Hated by Many is, if not the worst hip hop album this year, easily the least entertaining hip hop album of this year.

With most mainstream albums, this album is incredibly formulated. There is the track with the worthless gangsterisms (“I’m A G,” many others), the 'single' (“Money In The City”), and the song for the ladies (“She Loves Gangsta’s”) and that is about it. Lil Keke doesn’t differentiate himself from the pack at all. His rapping style is much like Paul Wall’s, occasion write something semi-witty, but mostly just talk about your grill and how gangsta you are and such. This would be okay if this rapper had a unique flow or some form of charisma, but sadly he does not. His flow is sluggish and just doesn’t get the job done at all. He lacks the charisma of his up-bringer Paul Wall as well, thus allow Lil Keke to rot and bore listeners to death.

Now, most southern rappers either have awesome beats and guests that service their songs well without outshining said rapper, but suffice to say, Keke has neither. Simply put, Keke gets outshined in every song that has a guest, his uninspired tone and his drone-style rapping just gets him the three strikes out every time. While all that is happening, the beats on this album are so generic that it would make any listener puke. It’s all just generic Swishahouse-style synth beats, and not the incredibly polished and flashy style like Rick Ross, just boring hustle beats that are supposed to make you feel his icey grill over your shoulder, which it cleary doesn't do.

Loved by Few, Hated By Many is most boring, bloated, uninspired hip hop album this year. Even more so than his dance hop peer V.I.C., whom at least has some hilarity factor, even if it is for the wrong reason. It’s somewhat scary too, as Keke’s wiki says this is not only his first mainstream album, but his twelfth album overall. If this really isn’t his worst album, imagine how boring his absolute worst album is. Long story short, don’t get Lil Keke’s new album, for it will bore any listener to tears with generic meandering gangster rhymes and on-going synth beats.

Recommended If You:
like the sound of a bad rapper droning on and on.

Not Recommended For:
Anyone else.

Good review. Sounds awful, although I'm not entirely sure you justified the really low score.

yeah I have no doubt it's really awful but I dunno if it's quite THAT bad. In any case, I'm guessing I'd agree with you if I heard this and your review is good.

yeah at least with Soulja Boy, something hilarously bad was going on, but with this, nothing is really happening.

How hard is it to spell the word "little" for rappers?

Very good review Maxy Boy. This one is worth a pos. Only sentence which didn’t come out correctly was “…occasion write something semi-witty…”

I tend not to trust any rapper with Lil preceding their actual name.

he's popular in Texas, so maybe they think his name is quite gangsta.

dude, 1 more comment and you're at 1337.

solid review, but I was wondering if you've tried to write in the 3rd person much? I know using the 1st and 2nd is a bit more organic, and definitely is stylistic for most people, but just throwing that out there.

Also, I want to try writing in 3rd person some time. Maybe for my 50th review.
