Review Summary: Lucifer needs to try harder, I'm not convinced.
The best death metal album. The production is excellent. The drums are non-stop pounding. The bass has a mind of its own. The guitars attack relentlessly. The vocals are straight out of the 9 Hells. This album owns so fucking hard it almost makes me believe that Satan exists.
I like the weird vocal effects on the first, even though most don't like them. It was the first album I heard by them, so I will always enjoy it. The bass isn't as audible in it, though, and the production is a bit lower than this one. What I like about this album is the ferocity and intensity of it. I know you like Reign in Blood, but to me this album is everything Reign in Blood wishes it was.
Slayer's Reign in Blood sounds to me like they were trying to make the fastest, most ferocious album straight out of the flames of hell. That's the same feeling I get from Legion, only I think it's better. Better vocals, better bass, better guitars, better drums.
My point is a lot of early death has thrash roots in it, and a lot of late 80's early 90's thrash has death elements. A musician could better differentiate which elements are thrash or death and which aren't. I am not, so I do the best I can.
I said that Legion is everything Reign in Blood wishes it could be. This is what I feel when I listen to the music. It's my interpretation. It's my opinion is what I'm saying and it isn't really debatable. Of course Slayer doesn't sounds like Deicide. Cannibal Corpse doesn't sound like Obituary, and Bolt Thrower sounds nothing like Morbid Angel, yet all four are Death Metal.
Gorgoroth sounds badly produced with a singer that wishes he could sing like Dani Filth. The feeling I get from it is black metal/black thrash. It sounds like a heavy black metal album. The feeling I get from Reign in Blood is blood, insanity, gore, satanism, intensity. Those feelings are what I get from Legion except twice as much. What I feel from these albums is quite beyond genre and technicality.
However, this album still destroys all would-be competitors. Bolt Thrower is the only band to me to come close to this level. To me, this is death metal's finest moment. This is where you guys and I just disagree. If I were to rip my heart out and hand it to you, it would look like the cover of this album. The relentless punching of Steve Asheim on drums, the twin blade attacks of the Hoffman brothers, and the lion, Glen Benton, roaring his awesome message like some Balrog epitomize brutality and viciousness to me.
This fucking review is so fail. Does that make you feel like some metal guru, rasputin, to disrespect this god damn masterpiece? The only reviews you have done with a 4.5-5 rating is indie bullshit. And then you want to tell me about metal? What a joke. Just admit it man, you are an indie fag.

All you have to do is read the beginning of this thread, RYM, or metal archives, to see that other people consider this a top death metal album, if not the greatest 30 minutes in death metal. For you guys to attack me because I also consider it the best, shows you are a fucking faggot.
