Review Summary: ...a fast, energetic and fun EP from UK rockers, Disarm

Anybody familiar with the unsigned rock circuit in the UK will most likely of come across Disarm, or heard of them at least, over the past year or so. They are a band who are getting there name about and gaining fans across the UK and even further afield due to their relentless touring schedule, due to this it is unbelieveable they have actually found time to record such a great collection of songs.

By Any Means Necessary kicks off with the title track, a fan and live favourite. The song is a heavy and nonstop rocking song with a guitar solo a mere 10 seconds into the track. Drawing on a number of influences from the rock scene both past and present, By Any Means Necessary is a great opening track. Melodic solos, pounding drums and bass, and great singalong choruses make this track arguably my favourite on the EP.

The next song on the bill, is Faster Faster Kill, a pure sleazy offering telling the tale of sex on the backstreets, which features a chorus to die for. The simple yet catchy riffs and mind blowing drums are accompanied by dirty vocals and the orgasmic moans of an unnamed lady mid song! If there was ever to be a Porn industry national anthem, this would be it!

Out with the sex and sleaziness and in with the punk with the next track, Getaway. Clocking in at only 2:02 the song gets straight to the point with galloping drums and a simple yet catchy chorus, making it a clear live favourite.

The following track,Too Much Is Never Enough is a song which doesnt sound out of place on the EP, despite sounding more indie, yet still heavy, than any other offerings on the CD. That is what appeals most about Disarm, they seem like a band that just live and breathe this kind of music, resulting in a fresh and exciting sound which cannot be placed into any one genre.

The EP ends with Black Can Man, yet another track that sounds different to the other 4 offerings on the EP, with its time changes and a great solo mid-song, the EP ends on a high, leaving the listener sat wanting more.

So in conclusion, By Any Means Necessary is a fast, energetic and fun EP, I just hope that the debut album currently being recorded lives up to the promise shown on this EP.
