By the metal gods! The Berzerker keeps on owning us more and more with every single release!
For anyone not familiar with this unique and brutal band, The Berzerker is made up of one man for most of the time (Luke Kenny) and a myriad of other members over the years as well. Currently, the touring band consists of Kenny, as well as Matt Wilcox (guitar) and David Gray (drums) from Akercocke! So fans of that band take note!
On their latest offering, Animosity, The Berzerker seemingly amps-up the aggression level to new heights. Considering their previous records, one would not believe the statement I just made…
Let me start on the vocals first (since I myself am a vocalist). They are beyond fast. Anyone that does death/black/grind vocals KNOWS that it is extremely tough to keep them up for long periods of time…
But at these SPEEDS!!! It is like Kenny himself is possessed by all of the dark gods and demons of every culture after they mated and become one mega-entity of destruction and death!
Insane rhythms mixed with straight-up necro-blasting grindcore music that lesser bands like Cattle Decapitation or Pig Destroyer could never even dream of reaching! Some of the tracks even have a sort of "groove" going that is almost danceable (perhaps a testament to Kenny's old-school gabba/techno days)!
28 minutes of pure-blasting music that will never stop to let you breathe, or much less think. This is the terror-music of the future. Nations will use The Berzerker as a means to torture hostages, mark my words!
This is NOT music to relax to, or even to headbang to! This is music to crank up to 11 in your vehicle of choice, thereby letting the world know that you are one pissed of person and to get the *** out of your way---catharsis at its finest!
