A dreamy pop adventure, High Highs' first foray into the musical realm is a largely successful one. Expanding upon the ambient palette that has been carefully crafted in the past decade by the scene's pioneers, High Highs show an astounding amount of potential, and a surprising knack for successful songwriting. Paralytic Stalks has its hooks, and it has its lures. It has its flaws, and it certainly has its duds. However, when it shines, oh Lordy does it shine. This is the most intriguing album I've heard in quite some time, and it has a way of demanding your attention in unexpected multitudes. Despite the downright stupidity of moments during the second half, there are tracks here that will stick with you, and trust me; we'll all be eagerly awaiting what Of Montreal has in store for us next. | 3.5
