Obsidian Tide Pillars of Creation
This album was quite a pleasant surprise, pretty sure I read a review on AngryMetalGuy that made me want to check it out. A progressive metal concept album that largely has clean vocals but harsh vocals are thrown in there too (though not the best ... but passable). The standout track for me is "Seven".

Somali Yacht Club The Sun
"Loom" hooked me in straight away and really enjoyed every track on the album. The tracks all are around the 8 minute mark, but you don't really notice the length. There is enough variety across each track that it doesn't become monotonous (a bit of a trap maybe post bands fall into). The vocal interludes break up the largely instrumental based tracks nicely. "Loom" and "Sun" are the standout tracks for me.

Machine Head Of Kingdom and Crown
Not really any "bad" songs on this album, however no real stand outs for me either. A solid album without anything really ground-breaking (or should that be head banging?). I know a few aren't happy with the political views of Robb on this album, however I feel that it actually adds to this album where the music is largely what you'd expect from Machine Head (without exerting too much effort). After a few more listens I might up my rating, but unless a track really stands out for me on repeat, I don't see it being anything better than "good".

Machine Head Catharsis
"Beyond the Pale" is decent track off this album, and definitely helped propel it up half a mark for me. The rest of the album is largely forgettable and a few songs are just plain right awful, "Behind a Mask" is a nice introspective song and shows Machine Head are getting better at writing the slower and softer songs.

Parius The Signal Heard Throughout Space
A prog metal sci-fi concept album, that largely delivers a great listen and interesting story. I was pleasantly surprised with this find. The standout track for me is "The Acid Lakes of Ganymede", it's been on high rotation since discovering it and with so many elements within the one track it keeps your interest after multiple listens.

Cyborg Octopus Between the Light and Air
When they push the envelope a bit their sound comes off unique and interesting. The change
ups work well, though I'd say the harsh vocals are sometimes overdone, mainly because when
they revert to verses with harsh vocals their sound comes across a little generic. Definitely
worth checking out though, as they incorporate a saxophone and keys throughout songs which
are sometimes subtle and other times central to the soundscape they are creating. "Trash
Island" is straight out hilly billy rock/metal (reminds me of Maylene and the Sons of
Disaster). The standout tracks for me are "Old Stories" and
