Daft Punk Random Access Memories
It sounds like they were trying to relive the energy of discovery but this time with disco replacing house, live instruments, and the duo on songwriting duty. The sad part is their songwriting is pretty mediocre, no interesting chord progressions, melodies not all that memorable for the most part, the backing band is lacking greatly in the original daft punk energy, and 'Discovery' even though electronic had much more of a human touch. The potential is there. It's funky, groovy, jazzy, poppy, dancy. Wow, did I just describe 'Discovery'? (Ok maybe not jazzy) It could have been so much more. It's got flow and it's creative. err i dunno... lyrics are terrible, I do admit toms writing has gotten better but not by much, the drumming is
not creative. The production makes the heaviness cheesy rather than HEAVY and there sound as a whole is
kind of bland. Also he used to come up with better melodies, even on itue.. and his voice still sucks. Maybe
some good shit will happen on the next album? I doubt it. bbuuuuut there is a progression i'll give it that.		2.5
