 | lately Don't we all feel that way :], and yet, I'm a cyborg from outter space from a different time. I've traveled light years to inhabit earth in an expedition of insight. You shall be assimilated eventually butt for now I shall learn of your every step because you humans hold an emotional side that is quite intriguing.

 | redskyformiles I think the problem you're having with that Deafheaven record is that you're going in expecting a black metal record. It's not. I wouldn't even say it's blackgaze or whatever the **** it's being called now. It's not a representation, it's an amalgamation. The largest influence on the record is clearly Envy and then it would be Kevin Shields, whose iconic wavy layers of jazzmaster tremolo arm flutters can be heard dripping over every song. If you want a black metal record you're ****ing up.

 | DarkNoctus i don't know, i can't really hear any similarities other than the fact they're both fast - they have much more to do with punk and any black metal comparisons are probably more to do with the background of the members rather than the actual sound itself. :]

 | DarkNoctus vhol is barely black metal whatsoever, it's essentially death-punk. the first deafheaven album was them attempting to be sugar-coated wolves in the throne room without any good riffs, the second album was them trying to be black metal envy with decent riffs and melodies. i prefer the latter.
