  • Rowan5215 just interested to see how romantic and familial relationships change over that large amount of time as well as doing a realistic sort of gritty take on the whole romantic drama thing. staying far away from 'guy tries to win girl back with displays of love' and all that cheesy stuff. I've already pitched it to my lecturers so just waiting to see if they give us the go-ahead to make it

  • Rowan5215 ah ye I see what you're going for. sounds really nice. I'd say just make sure you preserve the mystery of the aliens as long as you can, literally and metaphorically keep them in the shadows if you know what I mean, I hate when shows give those kinda things away too early and the mystery goes. my play is basically a relationship drama thing influenced by some stuff I went through last year, but I mixed in elements of horror and black comedy to make it more interesting, takes place over 20 years

  • Rowan5215 yeah basically my reaction. frost, lynch and machlachlan is all I need to be hyped like crazy. agreed that writing comedy into scripts is often painful, personally I think the best way is just to suggest where jokes could be and let the actors bring them to life with their physicality, but of course theatre is a different beast from TV in that way. love the idea though! any human characters or are we just following the aliens all the time?

  • Rowan5215 actually writing a play myself atm, that will hopefully be my major work for my last year of uni. so I feel the writing pains

  • Rowan5215 ye it's entirely a mark frost/lynch production at this point, they're credited on every single episode, the word is they've basically filmed a super long movie and cut it into 18 episodes in editing which sounds ****in great. your show sounds like fun, in my head I immediately thought of the less evolved species as a race of simon peggs bantering as they follow around bigger aliens, although you're probably not going for the comedy aspect as much as that
