Under Pressure

The Only Place
I know, its vapid dreamy pop rock And that's why I like it. Its got some great atmospherics, plus its simple, catchy and relatable lyrics are backed with some killer harmonies and melodies. Neck of the Woods
Killer atmospheric rock that has just enough pop elements to keep it catchy and sing-along-able. Also, the songs are just off kilter enough to be unpredictiable, and all of the little electronic nuances and flourishes are a real pleasure to hear from a band that up until this point stomped on their distortion pedals with the dials turned up to ten. | | 6 |  | M83
Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
A shining example of elation, happiness, and childlike wonder put onto record, resulting one of the best pop albums of our generation. From the deep purples and blues of the album art to the 80's worship, this double album is one of a dying breed. It never bores, and is an absolute pleasure to listen to from beginning to end. The Greatest Generation

I have been completely enamored with this album from the beginning, from the fantastic guitar work, throwback vibes, and the confessional lyrics. I love this album and the wonderful aussie who made this. this album brought me close and spoke to me very candidly, so even though I've never met her, I feel like a close personal friend of courtney.

Wild Onions
If the beach boys, the beatles, the stones, the zombies all got together and had an orgy, this would be the result. From the blues guitar, psychedellic elements, the harmonies, and the referential album title and cover, this album and band ape all the 60's. Conventional Weapons
A fitting swan song for my favorite band from high school. MCR is a band well known for their excess. If you take away all of their over the top visuals, bloated concepts, and leave just the bones of who they are, you get this; a fast, emotional, and fun rock record. | | 12 |  | The Young Veins
Take a Vacation!
This band apes all the sixties as well, just minus the rolling stones. What results is a short pop album that resembles "All Summer Long" or "The Beatles '65". It's some great lighthearted fun from the guy who was a founding member of Panic! at the disco of all bands. | | 13 |  | Daft Punk

One night my senior year, my best friend insisted we listen to this album while we get as drunk as possible. At the time All I listened to was shitty metalcore and pop punk/screamo, and this album opened my eyes to other genres, especially the music in my parent's collections. Even 5 years removed, this album is one of my all time favorite albums, with some fantastic drum and guitar work, and great vocals and lyrics from a guy who can't really sing all that well. | | 15 |  | Against Me!
Transgender Dysphoria Blues
I saw these guys live by accident - my friend and I bought the tickets on the tour for this album thinking they were rise against tickets. How I'm glad we were wrong. They put on a live show that was freaking incredible and blew us away. From then on out, these guys have been my favorite punk band, and this album was an unforgettable introduction for me. | | 16 |  | CHVRCHES

No Pier Pressure
Okay, so this is probably the biggest sore thumb here, I mean, its some adult contemporary crap for crying out loud. But, its [i]good[/i] adult contemporary crap. From the gorgeous harmonizing to the weird experimentations with singers from this generation, this is probably some of Brian's best work of the last thirty years. Even if you don't think so, it's not hard to admit this stands heads and tails over the beach boys' work from the last 30 years. | | 18 |  | Twenty One Pilots
Vessel
I just love this record, from the almost-irritating-but-not-quite over the top emotional lyrics and vocals to the pianos and synth that drive the music to the suprisingly inventive drumming, this album just does it for me. Plus, I taught myself how to play drums using this album, so I can earnestly say it inspired me to learn something. | | 19 |  | Gotye
Making Mirrors
This one I discovered ages ago, long before I met my girlfriend. I was playing it my car when we met, and it's because of this album that I started talking to her. I love the vibes on this LP, from the sound collages production to the surprisingly heartfelt lyrics. | | 20 |  | Arctic Monkeys

I discovered this album not long after "Brothers" and the grooviness of this one totally floored me. "Do I wanna Know?" is a straight up jam up to this day.
