Halfway House 2021

Ohhhhhhh were half way therererererere. Slacked slightly this year with my new buying Vinyl hobby/obsession which Ive spent basically ALL my furlough money on. Smart! and got a list of catch ups but for now....to waste some time.....
25Declaime & Madlib
In the Beginning Vol. 1

Some unreleased mid 90s boom bap from a few legends. Always cool hearing old Madlib beats.

Quick Little Mixtape

70 year Old cockney UK Drill Artists. Yeah....you'll laugh at first...then realise they're dope af. Then laugh again. F U N

Irkalla

Black metal rager from Down Under. Need to check their other stuff. by all accounts they put out a killer record before this.

Lex Neville

Probably my fave UK Hip Hop release so far. BV from The Four Owls on that same boom bap tip. A sit back head nodder.

21Regional Justice Center
Crime and Punishment

13 Minute slab of Power Violence. Whats not to like? Need more great PxV

Vacuum γ-Noise Transition

Worst Album title winner 2021. Giving it out right now. Album goes though. 'Black/Death Void Sculptors' I just read as I was linking this haha Perfect. Sentient Ruin devastating this year

19Fossilization
He Whose Name Was Long Forgotten

Massive dose of pulverizing death doom from Brazil. Huge release from the mighty Everlasting Spew. Disgusting.

18Neptunian Maximalism
Solar Drone Ceremony

Another fantastic record from these guys. Maybe not quite as 'out there' as the album and MUCH shorter of course but still absolutely brilliant and still one hell of a trip. Live they look incredible too. Like if Magma listened to too much Sleep.

17Anna Webber
Idiom

Stupendous Avant-garde Jazz from Multi instrumentalist/Composer Anna Webber. Not for the short of attention.

16motorpsycho
Kingdom of Oblivion

Typical super Motorpsycho affair but somehow leaves me wanting something more/different. I dunno. Someone called it being Motorpsycho'd out on the thread. Kind of agree but thats not a knock on the actual Music on the record which as always absolutely rules. One of the most consistent bands around.

15Boss Keloid
Family the Smiling Thrush

Local boys stretching further out into Proggy sludge land Fine musicians to a man. Really come into their own on the last 2 albums.

https://youtu.be/pw7G89k9qCU
14Amenra
De Doorn

I always expect Amenra to be my number one ( or close ). It's growing on me a lot but the crescendo section of 'De Evenmens' and the strange pause in the middle of 'Het Gloren' are two things I really don't like. The rest is actually dope but better taken as an album on its own given the writing circumstances, and not comparisons to previous Mass records. Feels more 'cinematic' on the whole. Which is cool. Caro obviously shines.

13Armand Hammer and The Alchemist
Haram

Return of the Kings. Would have liked more 'darker' tracks tbh but still. Added Uncle Al is most, most welcome.

12Crypts of Despair
All Light Swallowed

Tremendous death metal from Lithuania.

Ming Ming

The surprise, from-out-of-nowhere, release of the year so far. Lane branches out from the stellar Elizabeth Colour Wheel with this incredible solo record. I don't care if it's Lazy it IS 'Bjorkish' tell me 'Through Death a cup of coffee' doesn't sound like Bjork. Get out.

The Lurch

Great live band that never really got me on their records until now. Tylers drumming is first class on this.

Demonic Wealth

Parts of this where recorded on a phone apparently. You can tell. Krallice owning as usual and never getting boring.

8Sleepwalkers (JPN)
Noč Na Krayu Sveta

One of a kind. Nothing sounds like Sleepwalkers. Nothing. Black meta/Jazz/Noise/Chaos/Mental.

7Big|Brave
Vital

Slept on this. Don't know why. Their best yet, for me.

https://youtu.be/6CgK5w6E2ns

Jacob

Imagine Kayo Dots more madcap heavy moments mixed with Loads of drone/Dark Ambient.

5Nadja
Seemannsgarn

Most underrated duo on the planet. This live version is just PERFECT.

https://youtu.be/cIvHFemvrAE
4Hellish Form
Remains

Emotional driven doom with members of Body Void/Keeper. Massive. As good as last years wonderful effort.

https://youtu.be/WZBQwjzO9jE
3elles vārti
elles vārti

Atmospheric af, dense, morbid DOOM/Sludge with sick Layered female vox from Latvia. Think Thou/Hell meets CHRCH. GREAT stuff.

2Hiatus Kaiyote
Mood Valiant

Words cant express how much I love this band. A worthy follow up in my eyes even if less maybe grandiose than 'Choose your weapon'. Sooooooo many jams still.

1Ad Nauseam
Imperative Imperceptible Impulse

Clear number 1 at this point. This will more than likely be sat right here come end of December. Phenomenal.
