05.07.21 | My OG choice was Moderna but my mom's a nurse who helps with Covid vaccines and she says Pfizer is the best with Moderna a close 2nd |
SlothcoreSam
05.07.21 | Had both shots of the Moderna vaccine already, and I'm still here.
Only problem is, by the time we're allowed to travel again, the vaccines efficacy will likely have deminished, requiring a booster dose, that will probably not be available, as the drug companies will be researching, and trialing an updated vaccine to cover the Covid variants, or the government will fuck up the delivery of the booster vaccines.
But that's only if they are needed, and we don't know the answers to that yet, studies are ongoing.

05.07.21 | I'm definitely in sympathy with those who have some reservations. I check enough boxes in terms of vulnerability to the virus that after conferring with my doctor, I went ahead and got vaccinated. The bad news is I got the Johnson & Johnson 2 days before they pulled it off the market temporarily. The good news is I'm already on blood thinners, so I wasn't too concerned about blood clots. |

05.07.21 | Felt a lot like a tetanus shot
Like I got punched in the arm |
CaliggyJack
05.07.21 | I have no problem with the vaccine in general, but I take issue with J&J's. Not because of the blood clot bullshit. Problem is I feel they rushed the vaccine to control the one-dose market. Then they got caught fudging numbers and their vaccine only had a 77% efficiency rate compared to Moderna and Pfizer's 90+%. |
SlothcoreSam
05.07.21 | Oh and the 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine knocked about 90% of the people I know, under 50, on their ass.
I work at a hospital, and the amount of nurses and staff off work after the 2nd shot made for some interesting days. As a manager, it is important to make sure you stagger when your employees get their shots. |

05.07.21 | I mean they all rushed the vaccine, but they had to. If we didn't have a vaccine by now, I'd be crying bloody murder. The economy would be fucked. Every sane person was begging them to pump the gas on the vaccine. But there was also more man power and funding going into the research for this vaccine than like, any other vaccine on the history of earth.
The vaccine might not be a perfect cover-all, and it might lose effectiveness after a while, idfk, but as long as it curbs COVID cases and allows for normalcy to somewhat return, it's a very good thing |

05.07.21 | yeah, I don't know the details, but it's not like this is the first vaccine these companies are developing lol |

The second shot, might slow you down for a day or two. But like Ledd said, 3 days later you are back to normal.

05.07.21 | >Then they (J&J) got caught fudging numbers and their vaccine only had a 77% efficiency rate compared to Moderna and Pfizer's 90+%.
I don't know that they were actually fudging the numbers - I think their efficiency rate was public knowledge before it got approved. The thing I considered the most important (besides the whole one and done thing) was that the number is in high nineties in terms of protecting people from the most serious consequences of the virus, the stuff that gets you hospitalized and kills you. |

05.07.21 | also tip to those going to get vaccinated: as shit as it sounds, don't take any tylenol or immune suppressants til 30 hours after receiving the vaccine. it dulls the immune response and can nullify the shot's effects |

05.07.21 | Finished up Moderna quite a while ago. Had earlier access being in healthcare. 1st one fine, 2nd down a day then fine. This is well established stuff. The older folks I have been working with generally report no side effects whatsoever, regardless of vaccine. All are safe and effective. I love it when hard core addicts tell me about their reluctance, like "you telling me you're concerned about what you are putting into your body now?"
The tech framework for these vaccines was laid out long ago. It's seriously providence that we were ready to plug and play this shit for our current plight. Hesitancy is going to ensure we have continue to have a bad time. My organization shuns folks who refused, but I know they are in the minority.
Also, you got a phone and email, you are already infinitely track-able. |

See, I totally understand the mistrust over the vaccines, not because of some nefarious plot but just because they rushed stuff though. The paperwork for my vaccine right on it said it wasn't even fully approved. And I've had it happen to me in the past where a medication that was fully approved was later found to cause cardiac issues, so they pulled it off the market. |
