2019 Halfway house

2019 Faves so far. Relative order. Not going into depth save that till the end of the year innit. Forget that stress You. Recs welcome Sputters. Turing into an incredible year.
1The Haxan Cloak
Midsommar (Original Score)

So this only just dropped but holy shit. Haxan cloak is a genius. Beautiful yet Harrowing. A rival to Stetsons 'Hereditary' score last year.

2Yellow Eyes
Rare Field Ceiling

Their best. Phenomenal.

3Deathspell Omega
The Furnaces of Palingenesia

No explanations necessary. Maybe.

https://youtu.be/0KzXgA7dxXI
4Waste of Space Orchestra
Syntheosis

Worth the wait/Hype. Two of my favourite bands combined who both put their stamp on this Psyched, Trippy adventure. Wonderful.

5Billy Woods, Kenny Segal
Hiding Places

The God Billy. Been a Kenny fan since his Teamsupreme appearances and the stuff with Self Jupiter. Good to see him on here doing the business.

6Cave In
Final Transmission

Bittersweet beauty X

https://cavein.bandcamp.com/album/final-transmission
7Wishfield
Wishfield

Free D/L Kind of Atmospheric black metal tinged, Shoegaze, Emo-ey I dunno. Fretless guitar and bass. Parts sound like Alice in Chains! I should hate it. I love it. You need to sit out the whole thing. Influences everywhere.

8Amon Tobin
Fear In A Handful Of Dust

The man himself creating wistful dreamworlds to explore but with no percussion. His best album for me and thats saying something but a departure from previous.

9Motorpsycho
The Crucible

Consistently awesome Norwegian Prog/Psych legends.

https://youtu.be/u0TZoNivMqM
10Mach-Hommy & DJ Muggs
Tuez-Les Tous

Muggs is still fire when he's on. Great record. Grimy.

11The Body and Thou
Everyday Things Are Getting Worse

Live albums are always hit or miss. THIS is absolutely phenomenal. As if it is possible they could sound any bigger than they do on record. A Shellac cover and a Born against cover but 'Beyond the realms...' especially incredible.

12Skaphe and Wormlust
Kosmískur Hryllingur

Iceland black metal is the heart right now. An absolute trip.

https://skphwrmlst.bandcamp.com/album/kosm-skur-hryllingur
13Lorn
DROWN THE TRAITOR WITHIN

Return of the Master. He can do no wrong. Kind of miss the full song Lorn but hey...

https://lorn.bandcamp.com/album/drown-the-traitor-within
14Jambinai
ONDA

Another grower with every listen. Such a talented band. I'm a sucker for those Traditional Korean instruments.

15Abyssal
A Beacon In The Husk

They back with that madness. Still mentally unpacking this. Fantastic as ever though and their best production to date.

https://abyssal-home.bandcamp.com/
16Big Brave
A Gaze Among Them

Soothing, trance inducing, Mighty drone rock.

https://bigbravesl.bandcamp.com/album/a-gaze-among-them
17Nihilsect
Verge Of Collapse

Dope, Fierce, Crusty Black Metal EP

https://nihilsect.bandcamp.com/releases
18Misthyrming
Algleymi

Took a while. The more drawn out melodic parts and the different Vocal style wasn't expected. Its great though.

19Inter Arma
Sulphur English

Not as mighty as previous albums but a slow burner. Loving it more with time.

https://interarma.bandcamp.com/album/sulphur-english
20The Nent
Vulner

Percussion heavy dark ambient. Saw this guy in Germany he was great with a superb Visual set up.

https://cycliclaw.bandcamp.com/album/vulner
21Quelle Chris
Guns

Superb off kilter weirdness from Chris again.

https://quellechris360.bandcamp.com/album/guns
22This Gift Is A Curse
A Throne of Ash

Relentless. Blackened sludge/core/metal ish....

https://thisgiftisacurse.bandcamp.com/album/a-throne-of-ash
23Your Old Droog
Transportation

New York Hip Hop. Much better than his other release this year.

https://yourolddroog.bandcamp.com/album/transportation
24Latitudes
Part Island

UK Post metal goodness.

https://latitudesuk.bandcamp.com/album/part-island
25Nocturnus AD
Paradox

A great return to my youth. A solid come back for the legendary Sci-fi death metal band despite it only including one of the originals. They kept that Nocturnus sound.

https://profoundlorerecords.bandcamp.com/album/paradox
26Claw the thin ice
Colour Phase

Im adding this as an extra because its a genre I generally cannot stand. Poppy, Catchy, Indie rock but man I really like this record. The tracks make me from going 'Urgg not for me' to being won over by the end. The second track a perfect example. Jog along indie rock and into a draw out beautiful post rock song. Really good.

27Teddy Faley
My Favorite Day Parade

Ok Throwing this up too. Teddy Faley is an old affiliate of the Reservoir Sound crew (Billy Woods) and dropped a great little unknown record called 'Apple Juice' in '08. This is his first since then I believe.

https://teddyfaley.com/album/my-favorite-day-parade
28Tim Hecker
Anoyo

Mfer gonna have to round it to 30 now cos I'm weird like that. Second release featuring the gagaku ensemble but more minimal than last years Stellar 'Konoyo' I think It was the review on here that called it a 'reflection' Perfect.

https://timhecker.bandcamp.com/album/anoyo
29Primitive Man / Hell (USA)
Split

Two of the absolute filthiest, World ending sludge/doom bands. Best Tag team ever. Like the Natural Disasters. FAT.

https://primitivemandoom.bandcamp.com/album/split-with-hell
30Body Void
You Will Know The Fear You Forced Upon Us

Another solid and abrasively punishing release from the Cleveland 3 piece. Probably my favorite by them up to now.
