11.03.09 | nuclear engineering sounds like something pretty sweet to study |
AggravatedYeti
11.03.09 | ^ Jesus, I just got my Film/Art History degree, nuclear engineering would destroy me.
Also congrats on graduating and 1,2,3,6 all kick ass and I need to hear 7 and 10 I think. |

11.03.09 | im in an electro optics program, so i think anything crazy like that would be sweet, even though nuclear eng would pry destroy me as well, that and probably astrophysics, that shit is intense |
bloc
11.03.09 | never fear guys, all you need are really good time management skills, no matter what the program is. i admit i didn't do so hot in my first two years, but those were lessons i learned to prepare for my final two years.
just the title "electro optics" sounds badass, what do you do in it? |
feav233
11.03.09 | the dept really surrounds a lot of its research around using lasers and fiber optics, they really do anything you can think of with lasers and fiber optics (communication devices, biomedical, etc), but there are a couple different projects going on using ladar imaging (which is pretty much like sonar or radar, but imaging using lasers instead)
ha, but you sound like me during my eng physics degree, i sorta dicked around my first two years to realize that i couldn't keep doin it, so i ended up working harder my last two years, what type of stuff do you do in nuclear eng? |
bloc
11.03.09 | haha, i guess the title itself is a perfect description of the program; lasers and optics.
we really focused on the nuclear aspect of engineering towards the end of the second year, where we learned about basic nuclear physics and radiation protection.
nuke is also what you would expect; the two main things we learn are plant operation and plant chemistry. so, ops is pretty much how the plant works (what the steam generators do, different types of rods, etc) and the chem part is all about heavy water chemistry.
i guess i could say there is a third part all about radiation safety, but that is more for the radiation science kids. any safety we deal with is mostly gonna be about the power plant and how NOT to blow it up. |
feav233
11.03.09 | cool shit man, sounds pretty cool, haha yea, don't blow it up |
AggravatedYeti
11.03.09 | ^ ditto. Tho it would be sweet to run a nuke plant. |

11.07.09 | It has been a pretty great year. It's lacked in terms of metal for me, but that's giving me the opportunity to listen to things I normally wouldn't. |
StreetlightRock
11.07.09 | Check out Pesefone's latest, Shin-Ken, I think it's something up your alley, symphonic-melodic death. Their other albums are better, but this is about as metal I really get for 2009. |
