@Deez have you seen Good Time? I watched it for the first time yesterday, much more of a thriller and found it even more intense. Think I still prefer Uncut Gems but imo the two are similar in quality

04.11.20 | I've been wondering if In the Mouth of Madness is worth watching, it's supposed to be a good Lovecraftian horror film but I'm not sure if it's stood the test of time.
I watched Lost Highway a few days ago, total insanity. I kind of loved it. Also the first two Romero Dead movies and the Dawn of the Dead remake, enjoyed 'em all. |

TVC15
04.12.20 | @Talons In the Mouth of Madness is cool, unfortunately I don't dig John Carpenter as much as I'd like so it's only a passive recommendation from me. For a much better Sam Neil horror film, hunt down Possession (hmu in my shoutbox or RYM inbox if you want a high quality download). Lost Highway's also my current fav Lynch film, his LA trilogy is surrealism gold
Just rewatched The Neon Demon, grew on me a lot but still think the ending jumps the shark a bit. Drive still remains my fav Refn flick |
Intothepit
04.12.20 | Drive is by far and away the best Refn film. Valhalla Rising was decent, Bronson is great, but I couldn't get into Only God Forgives and I've been putting off Neon Demon. Just don't really have an interest in it. |
TVC15
04.12.20 | I fucking hated Only God Forgives. It feels a bit of a transitional film or test run for the pure style of The Neon Demon, but it tries and fails miserably to rely on atmosphere and visuals to carry the story. As a synthwave and Hotline Miami fanboy I'm kinda obliged to think Drive is a masterpiece lol. But it still holds up very well and the opening heist scene and its transition into the opening credits is pure kino |
