My "Pre-Rock" Era

I have been doing an exercise where I compile, rank order, and write up something for my 100(ish) favorite songs of all time. It is tedious but fun, and provides some cool perspective that I don't always think about when I'm just listening to my favorite tunes. I have been doing some fun data analysis and it's showing some interesting taste-related things. One of the most jarring is that I have a veritable grand canyon with a lack of picks during what most people and pop-culture considered the heyday of Rock music (mid-60s-80s). For context, of the 100 songs, I only have a handful of tracks from the 60's & 70's, and nearly all of them are folk or country (Dave Van Ronk, Townes VanZandt, etc), but I have nearly 30 from before the early 60's. I've been calling this the "Pre-Rock" era, which is a bit of a misnomer because obviously Rock & Roll started much earlier, and many of the tracks that I have are definitely R&B leaning early rock&roll, but it symbolizes a pre-Beatles pre-classicrock time period that I adore. It's a lot of jazz, jump blues, and country/folk. I've decided to add all of those tracks here if you want to get a picture of my taste. Descriptions are the rank I have them in my all-time top tracks and the year of release.
