Common Ground Festival

Common Ground is this week long festival in Lansing MI, and they got a pretty decent lineup this year so I bought a one day pass and went yesterday to see some jams
1Brand New

I was like 3 people from the front, directly center-stage, making it absolutely insane.
The crowd was rather obnoxious with the unnecessary moshing, and it was
legitimately so packed that you couldn't move your arms, or hardly breathe.
Nonetheless they sounded decent, not overly clean or polished, but it was emotional
and a good performance. They played the first 6 from TDaGaRIM which makes
everything worth it.
2Circa Survive

I dig these guys, and live they buried my doubts. They were extremely tight and they
sounded huge. The vocalist is a bit of a nut and it was pretty funny. They really
nailed down a great aura and atmosphere that was captivating throughout their whole
set.
3Say Anything

Not bad, nothing special though. I've never really understood the hype for these guys
just like The Front Bottoms. The fans were incredibly obnoxious and the stage they
were at was very difficult to see. Also, the sound quality was lacking quite a bit.
4The Front Bottoms

My teacher told me that these guys are basically just hipster rock, and they kinda
confirmed that for me. The performance was decent, but I think the music is pretty
bland.
5The Hold Steady

I had heard decent things about this band, but they were pretty bad. Dad-rock vibes
and just a poor performance. Didn't really understand why they were on the bill.
6Braid

Not the best performance, but I liked it a bit. Cool fellas and they really put it all into
their set. They were on a small stage so quality was ehhh.
7You Blew It!

Actually pretty damn good! They were incredibly emotional and powerful. Gonna
check their first LP today.
8The So So Glos

Good performance but it was a pretty bland sound of punk, and pop-punk. and their
name is the worst ever.
