lets keep the ball rollin'
1Jimi Hendrix
The Cry of Love

B- SIDES or BONUS TRACKS

any genre, doesnt have to be from a deep cuts album, just any b-side, no song over like 8 minutes plzz

handicaps:
Ovrot - USED
CaimanJesus - .1
butcherboy - .1
2AFI
Sing the Sorrow

"Synesthesia"

“AFI? The band that had that Miss Murder song on guitar hero?” This song sounded like a pop punk track but with a lot more punch in the guitar department. It certainly catchy but I don’t know if it was the youtube video or what but i think the vocals are a little too low in the mix.

3David Sylvian
Blemish

Frippertronics

"Somewhere"

Sylvian takes a crack at an old West Side Story song and it came out not half bad. The song is pretty quiet with the exception of Sylvian himself. Very soft acoustic strumming back his vocals with occasional electronics sputttering in and out. I feel he could have given the track a bit more oomf but the simplicity of the song also kind of works.

SAME

Frivolous

"Same"

“Same” is sporadic, eccentric, and overall a good time. The song at first feels like a conglomeration of segments tied together in one wacky package but the more i listened to it, the more i began to like its structure and appreciate the density of everything. It’s intense yet loose and wildly entertaining.

"Typewriter Lesson"

This track makes use of a bizarrely catchy typewriter/vocal sample that really works for the first half or so, after that though the song kinda goes on a taaad too long in my opinion. “Typewriter Lesson” is however undoubtedly hypnotic and relaxing in its own strange way and i had a good time jamming all things considered.

6Isis
Temporal

Avagantamos

"Pliable Foe"

Probably should've said no to this rec because i’ve jammed all of Isis’ LPs but screw it. “Pliable Foe” is primarily composed of 2 segments, a light and a heavy one. Aaron’s cleans are good enough here and I got some very serious Wavering Radiant vibes but the heavier section is really where this post metal tune really hits.

7Grandaddy
The Sophtware Slump

CaimanJesus

"She-Deleter"

So this song is more like multiple songs in one. Each one aesthetically different form the last but maintaining similar lyric motifs. I wasn't too big on the vocals or the distorted second section but the first and third weren't half bad.

Ovrot

"Dead Head"

This track isnt the most complex or anything but who cares, this track bangs. “Dead Head” blends some riffy Godflesh with the more atmospheric Godflesh. Clean vox drenched in reverb tag teams alongside some great riffage and crisp drumming. No real complaints here Ov.

The Moon Is a Dead World

Sniff

"Tango"

Hmmm neat, “Tango” is the comeback single i never heard of by screamo sputcore vets Gospel. The song features some exceptional light/heavy dynamics and even what i think was a keyboard. The track is like a progressive rock screamo hybrid and i think it *actually* worked.

3.8
10Everything Everything
Get to Heaven

Bloon

"Only As Good As My God"

Poppy discordcore for a happy go lucky rec requester. This song has a nice indie pop/rock feel and is indescribably beautiful in a weird way despite it’s upbeat verses. The drum kick really grabs you on this one.

butcherboy

"Foggy Notion"

Ashamed to admit, but this is my first Velvet Underground experience. Good thing it was a good one though! This track glides along real smooth like and gets your head bobbin.’ Always nice to hear some butcherboycore.

Aberf

"Souzou Security"

Very tight and exceptional instrumentation unfortunately couldn’t save me from the male vox, wasnt a fan. Still, everything else about this track i really liked. The addition of female vocals into the fray was great and added some extra flavor.

3.4
13Echospace
Vibrational Studies (In Echospace)

Chortles

"Symbolism in Transition"

A gorgeous and nicely progressing dub techno track. The production feels soft and airy. “Symbolism in Transition,” like other Echospace tracks, feels to me like looking out your window and observing the skyline while rain pours down. Exquisit stuff.

dbizzles

"Orange Juice"

So apparently this be a remix of sorts of a track from Gucci’s “Lemonade.” Tyler does his thing on top of some unorthodox not-so-hip-hop backdrops featuring piano and a traditional drum kit. Things get jazzy at the midway point and the rest of the track is a sweet instrumental performance.

"How We Gonna Make the Black Nation Rise"

A funky hip hop jam full of soul and political commentary that didn't feel obnoxious. Surprised this didn't get more attention in the 80s, this is quintessential rap from that period. It’s funky fresh and ridiculously fun. Something about the female vocals that come in made the track feel like one big musical hangout sesh.

FullOfSounds

"President Heartbeat"

Well now, I guess discord really wants me to jam this. I dug this song for similar reasons as the first except this one is more upbeat and I thought it was the stronger of the two. Vocals grew on me here, and made me appreciate the first rec more actually. May need to peep this album soon.

3.7
17Coheed and Cambria
The Second Stage Turbine Blade

Archelirion

"Elf Tower New Mexico"

3.4

Having only really liked that one song by Coheed that everyone knows, i was a bit worried going into this. The band didn’t particularly win me over with this one but i had a good time with this. It’s a bit like post hardcore/emo with a punkier punch.

"It's No Good"

A very inoffensive Depeche Mode cover by everyone's favorite 3.8 album avg band Chevelle. Didn't make me jump out of my seat but i was grateful for that super nice bassline. I think i liked the verses more than the chorus but whatevs.
