Snow day jams

Enjoying my first snow day of the year at my college. I'm planning on playing PS4, reading The Wise Man's Fear, and listening to some new tunes.
1Ulvesang
Ulvesang

This is great, reminds me a lot of Kveldssanger by Ulver.
2Deftones
Diamond Eyes

Jumped pretty late onto the Deftones bandwagon, not the biggest alt. metal guy anymore but this band is fantastic. Currently my favorite record of theirs.
3Ulver
ATGCLVLSSCAP

Lives up to their recent material, I'm even slightly preferring this to the previous ambient, soundtracky kind of stuff from the past couple years since Wars of the Roses.
4Black Sabbath
The End

First 2-3 songs are great, a nice little ending EP for the band in lieu of that new studio album that was supposed to happen. I loved 13, but am less disappointed in no official follow-up given how it ended with the rain sounds that began the first song the band ever recorded, which had given a very satisfying sense of completion to their whole career.
5Intronaut
The Direction of Last Things

Top 3 metal albums of last year. Tesseract, Between the Buried & Me, Periphery, etc. are decent but bands like this, Mastodon, and Enslaved rule the prog metal scene of the past year or two for me personally.
6Steven Wilson
4 1/2

A great little companion album to Hand. Cannot. Erase.
7The Jezabels
Synthia

Very cool indie/art rock record with a lot of dance elements and 7+ minute songs. It reminds me of Total Life Forever by Foals, which is one of my favs of the decade.
8Megadeth
Dystopia

Decent modern thrash record, certainly their strongest and most consistent release of the decade so far, for what it's worth.
9Dream Theater
The Astonishing

Plenty of cool moments on here, it's certainly not the train wreck that some are calling it. But it's so overblown and melodramatic, with too many ballads and uninteresting drumming to really work as a complete listen. Just jam the songs Kenneth recommends at the bottom of his review; some of them are actually pretty good.
10Fields of the Nephilim
Elizium

My step-brother showed me this a few weeks ago, it's an amazing gothic rock record. Part of it remind me of Opeth meets The Cure, or Sisters of Mercy. One of the best atmospheric albums I've heard in a while, and very underrated.
11Fuath
I

Cool atmospheric bm that gameofmetal recommended to me, production and guitars are top notch.
