I'll Cry If I Want To

My long distance boyfriend who I was supposed to see with all of our friends in three days was in a head on collision on his way home from work with a truck that veered into him and it broke/fractured all of his limbs and his pelvis and probably some other shit too. I just know that his skull, neck and spine are intact and he seems to be fine neurologically. He's been intubated because of the amount of surgeries they have to do and he probably won't be able to speak to me until Saturday at the earliest.

Go Farther in Lightness

I want so badly to see him, and I know I will soon, but he has so much family heading down there and that alone makes my heart soar. Their family and his best friend has been updating me every day and that's keeping me sane. It's going to take him a full year to recover, most likely. A few more weeks in the hospital. Three months of bed rest. Six months at least for rehabilitation.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer person. This is someone who's activities include volunteering for Youth Activism at his church and helping the homeless. He's a jackrabbit who's got to put his life on pause for a year.

Let's Stay Together

Saving graces include going to see all of our friends tomorrow, where I'm sure we'll have a good cry about it - online friends for years, some of them I've met a few times now, some of them I'm meeting for the first time. We're all so incredibly close and his absence will be felt.

I've never loved someone so genuinely in my life as him, and I can tell because I can't go a couple hours without crying. I know he'll persevere and I know he'll return to some semblance of normalcy, it's just such a long road.

I've never loved someone so genuinely, and it's revealing new things about myself. This is going to be a fucking rough year, but I've watched his GoFundMe raise ten thousand dollars in 8 hours and I know that however rocky his childhood was, he grew up with so many people who love him. He knows how to spread kindness and warmth and love and I know it's going to bounce right back to him, right now and forever.
