100 Songs From 2013

Here are 100 songs from different artists in 2013 that I thought rrrrwere rad.
1A$AP Ferg
Shabba

Sha-shabba Ranks. Trap Lord bangs.
2Action Bronson
Amadu Diablo
3Ariana Grande
Baby I

Grande is adorable and this is probably my favorite pop song of the year. Way catchy.
4Bad Noids
My Country

Best punk song that includes a harmonica solo.
5Bad Religion
True North

BR still got it.
6Bad Side
Everybody Wants Something From Me

Bad Side combines youth crew hardcore with 80?s harDCore and it?s really cool.
7The Body
Worship

Heaviest shit.
8Broken Prayer
Wow

Pretty unique style of hardcore punk.
9Bummer (KS)
Arts and Crafts

Melvins/Unsane/Jesus Lizard worship from Kansas City.
10California X
Pond Rot

RIYL Dinosaur Jr. and riffs
11Chain Rank
Chain Rank

Toughest Boston hardcore track of tha year.
12Chance The Rapper
Cocoa Butter Kisses

Acid Rap rules, funnest track on it. Probably due to Twista?s verse.
13Chief Keef
Yesterday

A rare but dope feel-good trap song.
14Childish Gambino
Shadows

Thundercat?s basswork/production/whatever on this is great. Song gets my feels.
15CJ Fly
Too Paid

Shit sounds straight out of the ?90s. Love Thee Way Eye See It almost as much as
Summer Knights.
16Culo
Down In Equador

Still one of the best 21st century hardcore bands.
17Cut Copy
Free Your Mind

Never was (and still not really) into Cut Copy, but this song is cool as fuck. Song
reminds me of people rollerblading n shit.
18Danny Brown
Side B (Dope Song)

Fist pump rap jam for 2k13
19Daylight
Sponge

Grungey emo n stuff
20Deafheaven
Dream House

Epic shit. You know bout it.
21Death Grips
Two Heavens

Big DG fan but not as into Gov Plates as their other shit. This song and Anne Bonny
are sick tho.
22Defeater
Bastards

Only really liked this song and a couple others but pretty intense post-hc.
23Denzel Curry
Parents

Haven?t listened to any of his past stuff or any other Raider Klan stuff for real but this
song really caught me. Very catchy, unique attitude.
24Dirty Work
Gun In My Mouth

One of the most desperate punk tracks you?ll hear all year.
25Drake
All Me

Drake is stupid most of the time, but this song makes me feel good about myself. 2
Chainz goes in too.
26Earl Sweatshirt
Hoarse

Love that BBNG produced this track. Super dark n shit. I think I was a little too hyped
on Doris when it came out but it really is a solid album.
27Emily?s Army
War

Catchy pop-punk jam bout politics.
28Flatbush Zombies
Death

D.R.U.G.S. was a pretty mediocre tape, but I knew they had a great style. Glad
BetterOffDEAD turned out so good.
29FocusedXMinds
In Control

The straight edge is cool.
30Frank Turner
Time Machine

Great super-upbeat jam from Frank. This album didn?t have enough electric guitar tho.
31The Front Bottoms
Twin Sized Mattress

These dudes have gotten better.
32Gag
Intro/Squeeze

Best punk intro track this year. Shit?ll have you slammin?.
33Gas Rag
Abort Them

New Chicago hardcore band, one member from Culo. Real pissed, real fast, real good.
Songs don?t needa rhyme.
34Ghost B.C.
Year Zero

File under songs that made me wish I listen to metal more. Sick and creepy.
35Ghostface Killah
The Sure Shot

The part where he says ?It?s tha sure shot!? w/ the breakdown thing gets me real
hyped. Production on this album is so good. More rappers need to rap over real
instruments.
36Hoax
Los Angeles

LP wasn?t quite as good as their EPs but definitely has some jams. Sucks they?re
probably breaking up.
37Hostage Calm
May Love Prevail

Didn?t like this album as much as everyone else but this song is super fun!
38Hounds Of Hate
Pound Of Flesh

Great straight edge from PA.
39Iceage
Coalition

Really cool hearing them doing more melodic shit now while still keeping their edge.
Great album opener.
40Iggy Azalea
Work

I really liked 212 by Azealia Banks and this year I really like Work. Sux that all of
their other songs aren?t that great.
41Into It. Over It.
New North Side Air

Evan?s voice fuckin soars on this thing. Great guitar work too.
42Janelle Monae
Q.U.E.E.N.

Monae and Badu are a dream team. The rap Monae does at the end is incredible. "The
booty don?t lie."
43Joey Bada$$
Amethyst Rockstar

Didn?t think Joey was too special last year when 1999 came out. Heard this jam this
year and got Summer Knights, loved it, then went back and was able to appreciate
1999. Pro Era?s doing great shit.
44Justin Timberlake
Suit & Tie

The only song from either JT album this year that?s really stuck with me.
45Kanye West
Bound 2

It was hard as fuck to choose between this, Black Skinhead, and New Slaves but
Bound 2 is just unfuckwithable, throwback Kanye.
46King Krule
A Lizard State

The most interesting and dynamic song on this album. I really hope Krule keeps
moving in this jazz-influenced direction.
47Lil B
Bitch Mob Anthem Remix

?Mothafucka it?s the bitch mob."
48Lil Wayne
Rich As Fuck

?Don?t talk to the cops/I don?t speak pig latin.? I?ve always hated Wayne but this song
is too funny.
49Lumpy and The Dumpers
Sex Pit

Rad slime-punk jam from STL.
50Mac Demarco
Ode To Viceroy

Cool, laid-back track. Guitar in some parts reminds me a little of Lonerism which is
awesome.
51Mac Miller
Matches

Watching Movies With The Sound Off caught me off guard. Always hated Miller but
there are a handful of solid tracks on there. This song is fun and nostalgia-y.
52Major Lazer
Get Free

Cuz Bubble Butt gets kind of annoying.
53The Men
Half Angel Half Light

I have mixed feelings about this album but this just an amazing straight-forward rock
song.
54Merchandise
Anxiety?s Door

Hard to pick a favorite off this album, might be my favorite of the year. It?s like
listening to a dream.
55M.I.A.
Bad Girls

More female pop artists need to be this badass. M.I.A. > Lady GaGa any day of the
week.
56Mind Spiders
They Lie

Solid release, favorite track.
57Missionary
Teen Sex

Probably my favorite NYHC track of the year. "1-2-3-4 teen sex, what?s next?"
58Modern Life Is War
Cracked Sidewalk Surfer

Was (but shouldn?t have been) surprised by this album. This song is super cool and
energetic and the singer does thing he like rolls his R at the beginning of this song
yeah.
59My Bloody Valentine
She Found Now

Being young/dumb, I hadn?t listened to Loveless before everyone got excited over this
album. Thanx internet.
60Nancy
I Want One

New York rock ?n? roll like you wouldn?t believe. Sounds like early Detroit rock meets
Ramones. Get this tape!!!
61Negative Degree
Get Fucked

Hc/punk from Denver. Very simple and to the point, but kickass at the same time.
62Night Birds
Born To Die In Suburbia

Great album.
63Nos Bos
Creeper Fever

St. Louis really surprised me with all the good punk this year.
64Nudes
Gasping//Churing//Gnawing

Real freaky and well-done hardcore from Olympia, WA.
65Nuke Cult
Stress Relief

?Society?s hands around my neck/I?d rather go home and touch my dick."
66Owen
Where Do I Begin?

The opening pulls you right in. Very nice/clever songwriting. Glad I got to see him and
Evan this year.
67Pet Symmetry
Please Don't Tell My Father That I Used His 1996 Honda Accord To Destroy The Town Of Willow Grove,

Fun story. The horns are great.
68Pharmakon
Crawling On Bruised Knees

I?m usually not into straight-up noise stuff but this EP is really intense. Sacred Bones
is doin cool shit.
69The Pinstripes
The Wokkabout

Best ska song that teaches you how to do a dance of the year
70Pity Sex
Honey Pot

Puts me to sleep (in a good/cozy way).
71Power Trip
Manifest Decimation

The drums on this thing.
72Pusha T
King Push

Great opener. It?s too bad the rest of the album relied on features and really wasn?t
that great.
73Queens Of The Stone Age
Keep Your Eyes Peeled

Ominous rock.
74Radioactivity
World Of Pleasure

Super catchy powerpop song on super catchy powerpop album. New band with
members of Marked Men and Mind Spiders.
75The Repos
Hole In The Hill

The Repos put out so much material this year. This one?s off a 7? single on
Cowabunga Records I think.
76The Rival Mob
Boot Party

Sounds like tough-guy hardcore, bashes some tough-guy hardcore people.
77Rotting Out
The Shoot Out

Sick riffs, Wally?s vocals are on point.
78Royal Headache
Give It All To Me

My favorite Australian band. Their LP was awesome. Really hope they put out more
than a single next year.
79Run The Jewels
36? Chain

Killer Mike kills. Gr8/unique production too.
80Savages
Shut Up

This album doesn?t get any better than this. Glad a post-punk album got some
attention this year.
81ScHoolboy Q
Collard Greens

Very modern, bouncy beat, good hook, and Kendrick Lamar?s verse is great.
82Stickup Kid
The Depths Of Me

Yeah, really dorky pop-punk, whatever.
83The Story So Far
Empty Space

Not in love with TSSF, but really dig this song.
84Streetlight Manifesto
The Three Of Us

~~~R.I.P.~~~
85Thee Nodes
Filthy Gaze
Crazy, nasty punk rock ?n? roll from Montreal. Go check out the music video for this one.
86Their / They?re / There
Their / They?re / Thereapy
Emo lives!
87Title Fight
Be A Toy
The guitar tones on this EP are awesome.
88Toro Y Moi
So Many Details
Yo, way chill, way bumpy.
89Touche Amore
Blue Angels
I really wish this song was longer except maybe not??? The female vocals at the end
are beautiful.
90Tyler, The Creator
48
Great NY-sounding rap track from Tyler. Shows him growing up a little (even if the
story is fake).
91The Underachievers
My Prism
Indigoism is an awesome mixtape. Issa?s flow on this thing is crazy.
92Wallpaper.
Good 4 It
Seeing Wallpaper. at Warped Tour with a bunch of my friends was the best. A song
about friends.
93Wastoids
Brown Sugar/Brown Liquor
Favorite Toronto punk track of the year. Slower than all their other songs but twice as
pissed/depressed.
94Wavves
Sail To The Sun
Life sux, sail 2 sun
