Turned 20 today

I don't want to be that guy who always goes on those existential "Where has the time gone?" tangents, but damn does it freak me out. List is sorta my musical evolution.
1The All-American Rejects
Move Along

Radio era: one of the only times I would listen to music when I was a kid is when I was in the car with my mom, who mostly stuck with top 40 radio hits. Most of my friends either listened to Metallica or Eminem but I didn't care for either.

Notable Artists: Nickelback, Skillet, Finger Eleven, Bowling For Soup, Linkin Park and Green Day
2Yellowcard
Ocean Avenue

Videogame era: The other time I would listen to music is when I played games, most notably Tony Hawk's Underground and Burnout 3: Takedown; whose soundtracks still largely stick with me today.

Notable Artists: Rise Against, Strike Anywhere, Ash, Chronic Future, The Matches, Alkaline Trio, Eighteen Visions, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, Amber Pacific and Atreyu
3The Becoming
Vol. 1

Radio era V.2: Sometime in middle school I found this radio station that I really got into. I didn't realize it was a CCM station (essentially Tooth & Nail radio) until a few months later as they really only got preachy once a day. But when I did figure that out they played too much good music for me to care. This is where I started to really give a shit about music.

Noteable Artists: Anberlin, Icon for Hire, Capital Lights, House of Heroes, I am Empire, Red, and Demon Hunter
4Escape the Fate
Ungrateful

Edgy era: Like a lot of kids, my early highschool days were filled with experimentation to put it simply. This is when I started looking for some heavier music to listen to. This is where social media has led me to including my introduction to Sputnik.

Notable Artists: Black Veil Brides, Blessthefall, Silverstein, Blood on the Dance Floor, Bullet for My Valentine, and Trivium
5iamthemorning
Lighthouse

Prog era: here is where things start to blend together and overlap. Somehow I stumbled into a Fair to Midland thread and I was instantly hooked with this new thing called "Prog Rock" I didn't know that it meant but it was cool and I wanted to hear more.

Notable Artists: Fair to Midland, Caligula's Horse, The Enid, Renaissance, Genesis, and Thank You Scientist
(This also got me into some neo-classical stuff such as Kashiwa Daisuke, Rachel's , Unwound, GY!BE, and World's End Girlfriend)
6July Talk
Touch

Blues era: when I started college I started feelin' the blues; once realized how much I liked Jack White, I knew I needed more.

Notable Artists: Everything Jack White has done, Rival Sons, Joe Bonamassa, Blues Pills, July Talk, Dead Sara, Tom Waits, and Gary Clark Jr.
7Motion City Soundtrack
Panic Stations

Indie / Emo era: Again, college was sort of a rough start for me. Nearly everyone I knew got into OSU or just went to community college to transfer later while I ended up Miami. I didn't know anyone here and it was incredibly difficult to get to know people as this was one of the first times I didn't really know anyone at all. I had listened to these guys before but "Pleasure to Meet You" came out at just the right time and really got me into them.

Notable Artists: Tiny Moving Parts, Jimmy Eat World, The National, Mew, The Daysleepers, Arcade Fire, and Foxing
8Sonata Arctica
Pariah's Child

Power Metal era: My most recent musical movement; I have always been very picky when it comes to metal but power metal like this is exactly how I wanted it to sound, fast, melodic, cheesy, and so much fun to listen too.

Notable Artists: Rhapsody of Fire, Dragonforce, Twilight Force, Tierramystica, Wintersun, and Nightwish.
(Also adding some melo-death as I have nowhere else to put it: Sonic Syndicate, the Unguided, and Soilwork)
