2013 Stuff I Heard

Since I'm still catching up with 2012, no list of that year yet (like anyone cares about it anyway)... But here's a list of 2013 releases I manged to hear, for no particular reason and no order whatsoever.
1Ulrich Schnauss
A Long Way to Fall

First Ulrich Schnauss album I've heard (besides his ASC collab, which is awesome). Nice album, a mix of ambient and IDM.
2FaltyDL
Hardcourage

FaltyDL does it again: Hardcourage is a great mix of styles and ideas and feels more confident than You Stand Uncertain (which was great, too).
3Late Night Alumni
The Beat Becomes A Sound

So this was a disappointment. LNA essentially released the same album three times in a row. But that wasn't really an issue, since their blend of house and dream pop (with excellent vocals) was extremely enjoyable. However, this album seems to have lost the magic. The vocals are still great and the instrumental work hasn't really changed either: the main problem is that the songs just aren't as memorable or engaging as the ones on the previous albums. Just go listen to Empty Streets instead.
4Autechre
Exai

Everyone is going crazy over this so it has to be awesome, right? I actually don't know it, yet. It's of course a massive (long) listen so it's hard to keep your attention to it, but I'm not sure whether that's a good or a bad thing.
5Ellen Allien
LISm

Ellen Allien proves she does have focus to do something truly original with the skills she has: a blend of various electronic and acoustic components yields a 45-minute-long, always interesting musical journey.
6How To Destroy Angels
Welcome oblivion

It has its moments...
7Steak Number Eight
The Hutch

Very enjoyable sludge
8Trixie Whitley
Fourth Corner

Wow, just wow. This young woman has an awesome, soulful voice and the ability to write the perfect songs for it to shine. Highly recommended debut. The only real flaw is that it ends with Trixie saying "ok, I think that's enough" but really, I want more of this.
9Poppy Ackroyd
Escapement

PaperbackWriter did a great job on the review, so I wont say a lot about this. Only that Hidden Orchestra's Poppy Ackroyd crafted a truly wonderful neoclassical album.
10iTAL tEK
Hyper Real

iTAL tEK is always great. This is basically an epilog to Nebula Dance.
