| Compton Ranked
Ranking Compton's track list since I've listened to it so many times, best to worst.
I actually ended up really enjoying this much more than I had anticipated.
I'm surprised this hasn't been reviewed mostly made this list so we'd have somewhere to discuss this shit. | 1 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Medicine Man'
Eminem goes hard, the beat is solid throughout and I dig the chick saying, 'Doctor's orders, go fuck yourself."
Seriously, when the beat drops a bit and Eminem turns his shit up, I almost feel bad that I thought Eminem had become permanently stale for years. Killer track and with his ability to make you forget you're listening to a Dr. Dre album, it's no wonder why he wasn't featured more on this release. | 2 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Genocide'
Can't get enough murda, beyitch. This is the Kendrick I love. Some interesting shit going on with the music as well. Gotta love the bridge. Just so catchy, been coming back to it a lot. | 3 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Talking To My Diary'
This song brought me instant nostalgia and is a highlight for Dre with his intimate, recollections for verses. The beat is fantastic as well.
Dre's production is still top-notch after all these years- I'm not buying the 'mixed on beats' conspiracy. | 4 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'It's All On Me'
This beat took me back as well. It is catchy without feeling too poppy. Total chillfest that you can play in any mood and your head will be sure to bob. | 5 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Darkside/Gone'
Very pleasant. Again, Kendrick performing well, with one of my favorite verses from Dre on the album. Super catchy as well. | 6 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'All In a Day's Work'
The beat is exceptional, the chorus is catchy, but not overbearing and the verses are all good. Just missed my top-5. | 7 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Just Another Day'
This might be my favorite beat on the album and all the verses are good with a satisfactory chorus. | 8 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'For the Love of Money'
This is the best modern-sounding song on the album. I like the verses and the whole song is pretty memorable. | 9 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Loose Cannons'
I love Xzibit in this song. I think he takes it from average to dope. I like how they switch it up midway as well. | 10 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Satisfiction'
This song is catchy as fuck, but I felt the verses were mostly forgettable other than Snoop-- who I'm glad rhymed cuh with cuh, cuh. | 11 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Animals'
This song maybe should have been higher on the list. I really like it. The biggest problem is that they let this Anderson guy (I know nothing of him outside of this) dominated the song instead of complimenting it. Also, I appreciate the message, but the lyrics feel a little juvenile at points. | 12 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Deep Water'
Another successful modern-sounding song. The beat gets kind of annoying after a while, but the song isn't a glaring skip in the list. | 13 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'One Shot One Kill'
This may be the most fun on the album, but that does not make it one of the best. The beat is great, Snoop's contributions (pretty much the whole song) are pretty good aside from a few lame rhymes. The chorus is meh for me. | 14 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Issues'
Sorry. I love Ice Cube as a person, but he didn't do well here. The beat is nothing to write home about either. Like, I'd advise against doing so. Again, not a fan of Anderson. I guess I know that about him now. | 15 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Intro'
Though not a real song, hence 'intro,' I still want to list this track because I hated the next one so much. Have a pos, Intro! | 16 | | Dr. Dre Compton
'Talk About It'
This song was the worst first impression possible for this album. It is a display of the shit you can find on the radio sandwiched between 2 Chainz and Nikki Minaj. Well, it probably isn't THAT bad, but I skip this song very time and wish it would have died o the cutting room floor. | |

08.19.15 | I never thought I would agree with Eminem having a good line based off his new work, the rest of this album ins't that impressive tbh. | dbizzles
08.19.15 | Album is a grower. If I didn't have so much downtime over the past weekend travelling, I probably wouldn't have listened to it as much as I did, but these songs will stick with you after a fair rotation. | LotusFlower
08.19.15 | I'll keep spinning it then, I guess | Gyromania
08.19.15 | album deserves more love on here. compton > to pimp | dbizzles
08.19.15 | I've certainly already listened to this as much or more as that album, but I didn't much care for tpab.
Honestly, my first impression of this was pure disappointment for me. I felt let down. | LotusFlower
08.19.15 | It feels bland. Like, most of the features are more interesting than Dre himself... | dbizzles
08.19.15 | I felt like that, too. Felt more like a mixtape than a Dre album. I don't feel like that anymore. His presence is almost always there when you sit back and don't look for it. | Spec
08.19.15 | What was that shit about Craig Owens? | dbizzles
08.19.15 | no clue | anydaynow
08.19.15 | He is on one of the songs | dbizzles
08.19.15 | No, definitely implying that they are. | ParanoidAndroid96
08.19.15 | 12 is 1 imo | dbizzles
08.19.15 | I believe it. I'm sure the preferences for this track list is going to be widely varied by user. The only songs I really don't care for are 16 and 14. In fact, 12 should probably be higher on the list. | RivalSkoomaDealer
08.19.15 | 1 sucks. Weak hook. Eminem sucks now. | Itwasthatwas
08.19.15 | I'm mostly digging genocide, one shot one kill, and medicine man off of this. | dbizzles
08.19.15 | Some fun shit, that's for sure. | PappyMason
08.19.15 | Damn, I still need to hear this. | dbizzles
08.20.15 | Watched Straight Outta Compton last night, too. It was way better than the previews led me to expect. Still had some cheesy/dumb shit in it, but overall, it was decent. |
