Atari's Nostalgic Hip-Hop Binge

with a side of r&b/pop. My wife got my a new pair of Beats headphones for Christmas. Sounds amazing compared to the shit-tier ones I had. I guess Dr. Dre helped create them so this inadvertently got me going on a hip hop binge when I revisited The Chronic and just kept going. Recs welcome :]

FadedSun/Ryus rec (my verdict: 4.5/5)

Afrocentric perfection. This stands out as unique and very tasteful - a curveball that feels different than what everyone else was doing at the time. Also brought some much-needed optimism to the genre. It's a powerful album all-around with an impressive production and thought-provoking lyrics. Shines a light on the culture in a way that comforts and challenges the listener simultaneously. I was completely blown away by this beauty

leave it to Sowing to complicate things and recommend a 2011 album on a 99.9% 90s list.. lol. BUT it all works out because this is a brilliant album

not quite as good as his self-titled but all around an excellent introduction to KRS-One and Higher Level is top-tier. Also, "I Can't Wake Up" is hilarious.
