03.12.15 | I don't know if you left Tchaikovsky off this list because you haven't explored him or there's too much bombast for your tastes, but the 1812 Overture is classic and Pathetique is a masterpiece (: I'm not too well versed in classical though, lots on this list I should check |

11.09.15 | Great stuff here
On 16, I think his best is the previous one, No. 40
Along with Brahms and Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky's violin concerto is wonderful |
Atari
11.09.15 | glad you enjoy these forkliftjones.
I took a much needed break from classical, but I'm looking forward to diving back into the genre again soon |
treeqt.
11.09.15 | actually just listened to it |
treeqt.
11.09.15 | let's say i'd rather listen to the brahms and mendelssohn |
Atari
11.09.15 | Tchaikovsky's violin concerto isn't bad but I much prefer his piano concertos, especially his first one. There really is a ton of stuff I still haven't heard by him tho |
treeqt.
11.09.15 | i generally stay away from tchaikovsky but kyung-hwa chung played it :3 |

11.10.15 | do you generally prefer symphonies, concertos, or no orchestra like sonatas?
but you should check more symphonies: sibelius 5 and 7, shostakovich 10, prokofiev 5, brahms 1, mendelssohn 3 and 4, beethoven 6 and 9, raff 5
if you like rach's 2nd, check his 3rd and busoni's piano concerto is great too
also ravel's gaspard de la nuit is basically perfect |
Atari
11.10.15 | I tend to really enjoy concertos but it just depends on my mood. Schubert has some really nice symphonies and piano sonatas, I dig a lot of his stuff. Cheers for the recs |
forkliftjones
11.10.15 | Yeah, Tchaikovsky's first piano concerto is top quality
All of Brahms symphonies (4 of 'em) and his 2 piano concertos are worth hearing
|
