| Mastodon - Worst To Best
Title speaks for itself. Finally finished my discog for the band so why not
make a list. For the record I'm not saying any of their albums are bad. | 5 | | Mastodon The Hunter
Easily their weakest album both on the basis of songwriting and production. Not
nearly as raw or as technical as their previous efforts. It's also their most bloated
release despite being their "pop album". | 4 | | Mastodon Remission
Remission has always rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. It's probably due
to the album sounding a tad sloppy in comparison to it's predecessors. | 3 | | Mastodon Blood Mountain
The last "traditional" record by the band. It's also the last "high concept" album by
Mastodon. Other than that nothing else to point out about this album aside from it's
various eccentricities. | 2 | | Mastodon Crack the Skye
Where lots of bands falter when cleaning up their sound, Mastodon prevailed by
improving on all fronts rather than just increasing the production values and calling
it a day. Probably their most ambitious and well structured album to date. | 1 | | Mastodon Leviathan
When naming the best Mastodon album, there's really no contest. On all fronts
Leviathan is the best album whether it's for the musicianship, the concept, the
production, or even the album's strange catch appeal which even rivals other
efforts that were supposed to be catchy. It's not as difficult as Remission, nor as
dense as Crack the Skye, or even as eccentric as Blood Mountain. All that aside it's
still the best LP to date. | |

I'm not crazy about it either. Has about 4 or 5 really good songs and the rest is pretty forgettable.
Highly disagree with 5 being last, their songwriting on that album is as good as it's ever been albeit a lot different from their early days. | ApexPredator
